By working together, we can supply impoverished children with educational materials and train their teachers.

This project helps some of the poorest children on our planet. It takes a village to educate our planet's children.

Short Summary

On the morning of September 11, 2001, I found myself and 12 of my students on a ship in New York harbor approximately 2000 feet from the World Trade Center when it was attacked.  This terrible experience convinced me that we need to reach across our world, not with guns and bombs, but with education and peace.  I began a project called the Global Coalition for Peace, Education and Cultural Awareness:

This project connects students and teachers around our planet.  Our schools have collaborated to assist local volunteers from New York's capital region to build schools in Africa and Belize.  I have a 12 year proven track record of sending hundreds of impoverished children to school and funding the construction of more than five schools.  This coming year, in July, 2014, I want to personally travel to Uganda to help rebuild a broken down school and train teachers in several schools.  I want to supply the schools with technology and teaching materials that will enable them to provide some of our planet's most impoverished children with a worthwhile education.

What We Need & What You Get

I will be traveling with a valid registered non-profit, The Giving Circle Inc.,

which has a proven track record of building schools and creating sustainable projects in Uganda.  The Ugandan government has a supportive working relationship with The Giving Circle Inc..

My original asking goal is $10,000, but my ultimate goal is $60,000.

The funds will purchase laptop computers, projectors, a generator, solar panels, books, maps, videos and an assortment of teaching materials to provide for two schools that already have a proven working relationship with the Giving Circle.   I will spend my time there training teachers in their utilization and classroom tools. I will travel to Uganda during July, 2014.

If I can raise more money - up to an additional $50,000, it will go to reconstruct a broken down school in the Jinja District of Uganda.

The Impact

Uganda's children are some of the most impoverished on our planet.  There are over 2 million orphans.  By educating Uganda's children, we are creating a sustainable path toward improvement for both individuals and the nation.

I have a proven track record for success.  I am willing to provide any needed references and will follow through with this project.  Even if just a portion of the money is raised, I am already committed to this project and will find a way to make it succeed.  Our planet's children are our world's greatest hope.  They face challenges far greater than any previous generation.  Only through education can we make a real difference.

Other Ways You Can Help

I also coordinate an International Children's Art Auction each spring at my school.  We receive art from children around the world, along with donations from local artists.  The money we raise goes directly to funding projects.  Last year we were able to help fund the construction of a kitchen for Ugandan children.  Any donations of sellable art can help.  You can also contact the Giving Circle Inc. and volunteer.

Please spread the word about this project.   Together we can make a difference

Mohatma Gandhi once said "We must become the change we want to see in the world."  As a teacher, learning that I can change the lives of our planet's most impoverished children, and teaching others that they can do the same has given my life value.  Our children must be educated to be able to become our planet's next (and better) generation of global leaders.  Together, we can make this happen.

Please help spread the word about this project.
