In early 2013 we lost our rented studio due to growing development in Austin. After much consideration our solution was to purchase 2.75 acres of land in South Austin where we hoped to build a permanent home for our company, students and Youth Taking Flight program. Our vision for our new property is to build a 3,000 square foot studio space to be used for classes, individual instruction and performances.
An initial fundraising goal has been set at $18,000, which will allow us to finish up our permitting and site preparation. Meanwhile our building team is working closely with principal company artists to ensure functionality and aesthetic values are incorporated into the project design. One particularly unique and exciting feature will be ceiling rigging in the studio which would support up to 9 aerial silks, to be hung in a circular formation with an instructor in the center, allowing for a highly collaborative learning environment. This new studio will also allow for ongoing indoor classes which will help our growing company and studio be sustainable and reduce our dependence on donors.
Our Extended Goal:
Our long-term goals include the ability to set the foundation for the building ($22,000) and to begin construction following the aforementioned site plan ($40,000). Our hope is that many people will be inspired by our vision and know that they can play a vital role in making our dream a reality. With your help, we believe this is possible, so please keep spreading the word. Every little bit will help us build and finish our new home!
