WHO AND WHAT
ARTSPACE is a non-profit artist-run centre that supports contemporary artists through exhibition and dissemination. We also offer a diverse array of resources to artists. We founded the Media Lab in 2012, a new facility for the production and dissemination of media art in Peterborough. As part of our ongoing development, we've identified a need in the community for a publicly available scanner. And we're not talking your run-of-the-mill printer/scanner. We want to buy a large format flatbed scanner! Specifically, we're looking to buy an Epson Expression 11000XL Scanner.
A scanner will go a long way, for more people and projects than you can imagine! Do you need to scan a piece of art you've made? And then blow it up and print it larger than its original size? Do you have old family photos you want to digitize? Archival material? These scans can be used in video work, on websites, and for print.
We want everyone in the community access to this high quality technology - this thing can scan at up to 12,800 dpi!
These are some of the things the scanner can do:
Professional large format scanning: scan media up to 12.2" x 17.2"
Batch scanning: Scan multiple images at one time and save files to a PC; scan up to forty-eight 35 mm negatives, thirty 35 mm slides, eight 4" x 5" transparencies or six medium-format transparencies
One-touch colour restoration: restore faded colour photos and negatives in a snap and automatically remove dust and reduce grain for film scanning
If you contribute $25 or more, you will be given free use of the scanner for the specified period of time!*

A contribution of $250 or more will give you all of these things, as well as a limited edition box commemorating ARTSPACE'S 40th anniversary. The box contains a wealth of fascinating ARTSPACE memorabilia and history, including baseball cards depicting the founding artists, a piece of history from the archives, exclusive access to video interviews with founding members and more!

*Scanning sessions are limited to one (1) hour in duration. Scanning sessions must be booked ahead of time by contacting the Media Lab. Maximum of 8 sessions (8 hours) per week.
