Help a New Developer Buy Some New Equipment

Recently began developing an app for android and find that my current computer is not able to perform and, as a student, I cannot afford to upgrade on my own.

Create and Enjoy. Myriad Radikal.

Who I am:

My name is Louis and in the last month I've been learning how to program in Java so that I could create an app for android mobile phones. While doing this it has become apparent that my computer cannot handle running eclipse (the IDE used when creating android applications).

I am currently a full-time student and have not got a part-time job because I honestly do not believe I could handle a job and school at the same time.

What I Need:

With this money I would be investing in some new books about the Java programming language, and android development, as well as some books on other languages like Python. I'd also be investing in a new laptop with very generous specifications so that I won't need to upgrade in the near future. I would also be investing in some new furniture like a new desk as my current one is one that I've been using for years and has become much to small. Basically, I'd like to set up a small studio from which I can develop the app I'm working on. I'll also use the money to invest in a website, which is important for any developer as a hub for my project and other related material.

And with your help...

I came to IndieGoGo to raise funds for my independent studio Myriad Radikal because I was inspired a few months ago to create an app that I think could really benefit the world. This app, which is my current project, is known as Project RokoFlow and it is, in essence, an open-source, intuitive, and, above all, free solution to use one's smartphone as a controller for video games. The reason that this idea has inspired me so much is because I looked at other solutions like this and I found that none of them worked, they were all missing something. I designed the RokoFlow interface over the next week finally deciding to start learning Java shortly after. I bought Sam's Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours from Amazon and spent a month learning that and then bought Android Application Development For Dummies as a follow up. I was disappointed to find out that my For Dummies is hugely outdated but I'm still hopeful that the IndieGoGo community will help me to buy a new computer,a plethora of books, some furniture, and anything else that I can use to build a small studio from which to work.

If you cannot contribute funds...

If you can't contribute it'd mean a lot to me if you followed me on twitter @myriadradikal (my developer name) and tweeted me this indiegogo out just so as many people hear about it as possible.

Thank you so much for reading,

-Louis Harris
