My name is Summer Willow Fitch. I was raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. My father is an accomplished guitarist/producer and my mother; a self proclaimed gourmet chef. Thanks to those two crazy kids, I have pretty sturdy vocals, great dexterity and have been a professional vocalist and musician since the age of 14. I can also cook pretty well too (thanks, mom). I graduated with a BA in Communication Studies from West Chester University in 1999 and invested further in my future in 2007, graduating amongst the top of my class with an MBA from Eastern University in Business Administration/ Entrepreneurship.
In 2002, after graduating from bartending school, I landed my first bartending gig. I was put on day shift; which was littered with regulars ordering the same drinks every day lending to a pretty boring work environment. Whenever a patron was unsure of what they wanted to drink, I would have the opportunity to concoct a tasty recipe, spark interesting conversation and garner a great tip for my efforts! The recipe for my potions focus on coordinating colors, adding fresh flowers and herbs and fruit to enhance flavors and presentation.
In addition, I consider myself an arm-chair therapist; offering my best advice and recipes to soothe my sometimes troubled and inquisitive patrons. My mantra for love: "Listen with your eyes and speak to what you see". I watch my customer's body language and initially take little account of what they say and I attempt to FEEL what is wrong. If one of my regulars says they are "good" but with a frown, I know its time for intent listening and observation. I have given advice on everything from self esteem to coping with heartache; morphing my customer relationships into lasting friendships.
That same year and for the last 12 years, I have compiled memoirs of the many enriching conversations and recipes that were inspired by my journey as a mixologist. I decided to take my bartending show on the road; leaving the bar establishment and starting my own traveling bartending adventure. I have served as a Mixology Instructor, Traveling Bartender and Management Consultant, but in EVERY role...I always served up advice.
Currently I am the resident Love & Relationship Blogger for Girltinilive.com and share my insight and recipes under the same name "Hearts and Hangovers" to help bring smiles and thoughtfulness into love and relationships. I am living what I love and with that being said, producing and publishing this book was a natural step in my trajectory; I want to share these words and affect the hearts of many.
CONTRIBUTIONS will allow me to see this 12+ year vision in the making, come to life. Self-Publishing is an expensive venture and when creating a cookbook complete with pictures and high gloss pages, it becomes very costly. I have been diligent in my process; asking for advice and informing myself professionally along the way. With respect to content – I am certain that many will benefit from each page of this book.
I require $7000.00 in funding which will go directly to the total cost of; the cook book publishing package ($1200 - $2000), marketing and promotion ($750 - $1000) purchasing my first 300 books ($3000 - $4000) books. The price varies based on additional needs that may arise in the layout/publishing process. If additional pages, pictures or formatting is needed the price of publishing and the price per unit may increase.
If there are additional funds I will put them toward my impending book tour, book signings, Mixology Classes and Love & Relationship forums. If I do not hit my goal I will obligate the funds I have raised to offset the costs listed above.
