Common Vision is setting our aim at changing the lives of 1,000,000 kids by providing the fresh food and eco-literacy that is so badly needed. The #GrowFruitGrowPower campaign will lay the groundwork to grow fruit tree orchards at 1,000 low-income schools.

Every child deserves the chance to benefit from having a direct relationship with healthy and organic food. But social inequality deprives many kids of this privilege. By creating organic fruit orchards at low-income schools, Common Vision has created this relationship for more than 100,000 children.

Your support of this campaign will allow us to bring our innovational brand of education to 30 additional schools and 15,000 more kids in the next year alone and to scale to hundreds more in the coming decade. Together we can continue to give children the equal access to the healthy food they deserve.

Many of us take for granted the privilege of eating healthy foods. Whether you purchase from farmer’s markets, grocery stores, or harvest from your own gardens - access to quality food pays real dividends, in immediate and long-term development, health, and wellbeing.
Now, imagine how not having access to fresh and healthy foods would impact your life.

For many of the 3,655,624 students receiving free and reduced-priced lunches in California, public schools often provide their only healthy meal options. For the 100,000 kids at 215 public schools, Common Vision plays a critical role in student health by delivering access to free, fresh, organic fruit.

Common Vision’s California School Orchard Project provides 100,000 low-income students with fresh fruit every year. Schools looking to nourish and educate their students contact us every week requesting an orchard. Unfortunately the wait list for our program can be as long as 3 years; without your support, we cannot help them.
We’re counting on you, today, to become the newest supporter of Common Vision with a contribution.
Every bit helps us get to our goal.

Gardens are a cornerstone of nutritional and environmental education in schools across the country.
Unfortunately in many California schools, gardens are under-staffed, under-utilized, and just not growing much food. In a modern world wrestling with countless ecological and health crises, it is more important than ever for all children to be environmentally and nutritionally literate.
Formed in 2005, Common Vision is a non-profit that delivers inspirational environmental education. Over the past 10 years we’ve planted more than 6,000 fruit trees throughout California and built a reputation for improving the lives of students and teachers. Not only do Common Vision orchards produce 150,000 lbs of organic fruit every year (so far), they are also living classrooms where kids learn about environmental science, climate change, nutrition, and teamwork.

We have accomplished all this with amazingly small budget, and are currently struggling to support our existing network of schools and to respond to new requests for help.

Common Vision takes a unique approach of using fruit trees and other perennials to create extremely high-yielding, low-maintenance, and low-cost school gardens.
This allows students to eat tons of fresh fruit, while freeing teachers and garden coordinators to focus on education instead of maintenance.

In addition to growing the number of schools we reach, we’re setting our sights on deeper interactions with each site and its students. Your funds will go towards developing school curriculum, launching dozens of easily adopted orchard activities, expanding the orchards to include understory gardening and perennial vegetables, and even to build outdoor kitchens among the trees. With your help, these efforts will nourish, educate, and inspire millions more children.
Working with hundreds of schools throughout California, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to educate students on how important their relationships with food are; through fostering community action we have empowered students to take to direct responsibility for their own health, as well as that of the planet for future generations. By 2025, we're aiming to have orchards in 1,000 schools, and it all starts now with you.
