Feb 8 Update: New York Fashion Week event!
We just had the most incredible and amazing New York Fashion Week event. The response and reception was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. See? I'm standing surrounded by the Team Grit Models, above. I'm so excited to create more and expand the line! Your support is so appreciated!
Get Your Grit
I want to encourage everyone to be bold and fearless, to find their adventure with Grit Gear, to think about art and leather in a different way. To make fashion accessible to all.
Grit Gear is a unisex leatherwear line. Its aim is to dismantle the taboos around leather, and conventional ideas of gendered fashion. Each piece is an artistic endeavor, which is why Grit Gear's pieces are so unparalleled and beautifully crafted with detail. I look for unique materials and draw from my visual artist background to create things to make people think and to inspire.
I'm a visual artist, graphic and webdesigner, photographer, woodworker, writer, Mac tech, activist, and leatherworker. I built Grit Gear from scratch.

Everyone keeps telling me the world needs to see Grit Gear.
That’s where I’m at now. And this campaign is my opportunity to make that happen. It’s time to take Grit Gear to the next level and bring it to the world. I want to make art accessible to as many people as possible through Grit Gear.
If wearable art is affordable and simultaneously fit for the fashion runways, it is indeed bringing creativity and inspiration to a larger audience. Everyone should have access to art, and through this campaign everyone will be able to wear it as well!
To make more pieces, I need more material, tools, space and resources.
Given sophisticated tools, I can create anything. When I am inspired I always make my vision a reality and I am always able to transform my ideas into action. I've created over 50 different styles for my line already. Pieces that were only sketches 3 months ago are now pieces that I have available online. My ideas for new pieces are busting at the seams, faster than I can even write down and my only limitation is the funds to expand. I can only even begin to start expanding my vision if I have specific resources.
To take Grit Gear to the next level, I am raising $8800 (includes fees taken out by indiegogo). My Dream Goal is $10000!
The funds will go toward me constructing a larger workspace (did I mention I'm also a woodworker?), to acquiring more raw materials to create more complex pieces, for larger equipment and tools, setting up my shop on my own secure server (did I mention I'm also a techie?), beyond what it already includes I am going to be expanding the line to include bags, cases, bodices, shoewear, and even some full body pieces, and finally I will be launching an advertising campaign to blast Grit Gear to the world. I will also be creating a large-scale art installation based on my Grit Gear concepts to exhibit in gallery shows around the country.
By you helping me reach my goal, you will make Grit Gear into a reality I didn't even know was possible. You will help to create a dream of providing everyone with accessible art. Art they can wear proudly in many forms. You will help me to transform Grit Gear into a true and bold business.
What You Get
I'm offering a whole range of items and incentives for you to donate. From rings, neck pieces, and wrist cuffs, to entire torso pieces. You get to pick with your PERKS out of any of the items from the online shop! Even the new collections! To see more you can check out http://www.gritgearnyc.com
For those contributing even more, I'm offering one of my original wood carvings, from my internationally exhibiting DoJang Series, viewable at http://www.ykhong.com/ykart
And of course, everyone who contributes gets to see Grit Gear become a global entity. You get to say "I helped make Grit Gear go global." You get to know you brought art to the streets and the runways, that you made it accessible to many. And you get my eternal gratitude. Always.
I know my work is excellent. In fact, it's breathtaking. Because it comes from the heart. And I know when I create, people love it and are inspired. I would love to get Grit Gear to a place where the whole world can find some Grit of their own.
If this campaign is successful, you WILL see all of the above happen. In addition to enabling me to manifest groundbreaking mindblowing designs and ideas, you will be helping me create hundreds of pieces of art to make tens of thousands of people happy. I'm an artist who is very grounded in building from scratch and making art accessible. You would get to see my Gear in stores, on runways, next door, and everywhere, where people are awesomely happy because they have accessible art ON them, on their bodies.
I always say, Art Changes Us, Let's Change Art. That's my purpose in life. To make people happy through art. Reaching this goal would bring it to the world.
Your one Tweet, or Share Can Make a Difference!
Please share this campaign with everyone you know. Your one share or tweet could make the difference if the right people see it. The more people I reach, the more chance I have of reaching my goal and spreading the awesomeness. And use Indigogo's share feature to share it on social media, email, and every avenue that it will take to make this dream happen.
