Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event, with thousands of people coming together at walks across the country each year to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis. Great Strides walks are family-friendly events with food, fun, and music.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.
I encourage you to please help me reach my goal.
Donating to the foundation is tax deductible.
Your participation will help fuel lifesaving research and medical programs that make a difference for people living with the disease.
Real progress has been made in the fight against CF, but the lives of young people with the disease are still cut far too short. We urgently need more support to help find a cure.
The website makes fundraising easy, with tips and tools to monitor your progress and easily invite people to support your efforts! Be sure to explore <a href="http://www.cff.org/Great_Strides"> today to learn more and get started! As your team leader, I'm also available to assist you in your fundraising, so please don't hesitate to contact me with questions at any time.
Joining Great Strides is a simple and effective way for you to show your support for this important cause. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those with CF. Once again, thank you helping to “add tomorrows” for people with CF, and welcome to my team!
