A car-jacker at a crossroads.

We follow Kurt, an expert car-thief, whose life is suddenly complicated by offbeat romance and professional competition.

Kurt works for Larry, a father figure who runs a chop shop disguised as a garage, but Kurt's career is threatened by Joe, a lowly mechanic and aspiring car thief.

Meanwhile, romance buds for Kurt with Emilie, a young mother with complications of her own. Kurt's personal and professional life are speeding towards a dangerous intersection.

The team behind GRAFTERS is a group of passionate filmmakers, trying to tell compelling stories through film. We made GRAFTERS because we wanted to tell a story about an anti-hero, someone who we sympathize with, but is not really doing the right thing. We wanted to tell a story that dealt with light vs. dark, new beginnings, new love, language and the barriers it poses, and a thrilling film that would keep the audience captivated.

  • Director / Co-Writer:  Nicholas J. DeMicco

    • Nicholas J. DeMicco has been writing and directing films for years. He has a passion for dramatic, stylistic films that dive deep into characters and their environments. His previous films include Facsimile, which screened internationally in 2012, and Home, A Film which was released in 2013.
  • Producer:  Omar Portilla

    • Omar Portilla is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, with nearly eight years of military service and three combat tours to Iraq. In 2012, he started 3YRS2Life Productions.
  • Co-Writer:  Ryan D. Moore

He recently won an Excellence in Screenwriting Award at MSU. • We shot 11 long days with an outstanding team of talented cast and crew members, enabling us to put together a great film. After shooting, the film has many steps in post-production before it is ready to be seen, whether that be screening at film festivals or playing the DVDs on your home TVs.
  • While we are asking for $7,500 to complete the film, every penny you donate helps us get closer to our goal.
    • If we are unable to reach our goal, all the money we do raise will still go towards the film. While cutting corners isn't ideal, sometimes it's necessary, and hopefully we can still manage to bring the film to its greatest potential.

Every Dollar that we receive from the donators of this campaign will go towards the film, making sure the film gets the best possible love, attention, and care that it needs to be the best it can be.

  • This short film is a film like no other. It tells a story we know and love, but in an entirely different way. It adds unusual elements and obstacles uncommon to film, making it stand out, and it is sure to keep the audience enticed, interested, and surprised.
  • We are very gratefully lucky to have raised money for the production of the film, giving us the ability to find our cast, go on set, and shoot everything. Those donators continue to support us as we complete the film, and will continue to follow us, along with you, on the journey to this film's success.
  • As Jim Carrey said in a recent commencement speech: "You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."
  • We made this film because it is what we love to do. It is a passion we all have, and we intend to continue to tell captivating stories to anyone we can. Your support is monumental in helping us do what we love, and in return, beyond our endless gratitude, we hope the rewards we offer are some form of compensation for your incredible generosity.
