What is Girls in Tech?

I am the managing director of Girls in Tech: Minneapolis. I was selected as a #glassexplorers based on my tweet...

Girls in Tech is a non-profit organization geared towards supporting and encouraging women and girls that are in technology or have an interest in the field. We host monthly events ranging from networking to educational activities.

We aim to foster a community in which girls grow and learn from each other. Google Glass is a fun, new and exciting technology that would not only inspire young girls but also capture the interest of our wider community. Women do not have an equal representation in technology and there are many ways to raise awareness. By using Google Glass, our goal of bringing more women into technology can be acheived.

Because Google Glass is non-transferable, it will be registered under the Managing Director's account, whom the offer was extended to. The intention is to fully leverage Google Glass for Girls in Tech purposes.

What We Need & What You Get

Google Glass retiails for $1500 and we are looking for that base funding. Anything over the $1500 will go towards taxes, travel to NYC to pick up the device, and programming expenses for the events.

The perks are geared towards specific events engaging girls in technology. The best way to engage girls is by giving them hands-on experience with the fun and exciting side of technology - your support will contribute to this goal.

In the event we don't reach our goal, any funds raised will go towards the opperating expenses of Girls and Tech and will still impact the lives of girls in the Twin Cities community.
