I believe there are many discerning listeners waiting for good NEW music to be released in formats other than CD and compressed downloads.... like vinyl and SACD.
Its my plan to do exactly this. In addition to releasing 600 Years in a Moment as a CD, I plan to release in SACD and vinyl. Its a MASSIVE cost to go outside the square and cater to this market. I think the audiophiles (people who love quality hi-fi and music) are worth the effort and are an important part of our audience.
About the Album:
600 Years in a Moment was created as an answer to the question of ‘globalisation’ in a musical sense. I played a contemporary hand made Australian piano with ancient instruments from around the world to bring the village and its hidden treasures into a modern musical setting.
The album is an exploration into time and history, bringing the past to the present, joining old with new and finding origins while looking into the future.
About the Composer:
Australian pianist/composer/singer Fiona Joy Hawkins is best described as Celtic New/Age and is hailed as a mixture between Enya and George Winston. An ARIA Finalist, winner of ZMR Album of the Year, MusicOZ Best Classical/Jazz and many other awards, Fiona is interested in the idea of telling stories through music.
“One of the brightest lights in the contemporary instrumental genre Fiona Joy Hawkins is poised to move into stardom and we have only to watch to see it happen” - Will Ackerman (Founder Windham Hill Records).

The Studios: Stuart & Sons piano showroom, Imaginary Road Studios, SynchroSonic Productions, Komunyaka Studio, Precision Sonics, Heart Strings Productions, Ted Spencer NY. I have the surround sound 5.1 files mixed and ready, but need to work on the vinyl edits and artwork. To manufacture a minimum quantity of vinyl (double gatefold album, 180 grams) will be close to $7,000. Its truly a 'Patron of the Arts' effort from where I stand and one you can help out with if you choose. To re-mix into rround sound and produce the finished product is well over $15,000. Thats in addition to the CD costs and recording of the album in the first place.
Of course I hope these things pay off, but thats not why I'm doing it.
Thanks in advance for helping push the boundaries. Its a team effort to create a listening world that doesn't default to compressed formats and a market that allows a discerning audience to listen how music should be listened to.
