Hi, my name is Brian, I founded Sound-Check Studios January 2013. What we do here is service musicians in all capacities (practice spaces, storage warehouse, recording studio, repair shop, consignment store). It's the first of it's kind here in Richmond, and every customer that has come through the doors LOVES the concept. This place is my life's work as a musician. It is, and will continue to be, an integral part of Richmond's music scene.
There's just one thing missing from the building that will make this place a true community center for musicians, an amazing warehouse soundstage that the music community can use for so many things (full dress rehearsals, album release parties, open mic nights, battle of the bands, just to name a few).
Here's what I need, and what Richmond will get
Based on all the percieved costs of creating this type of stage/environment, the fee indiegogo charges, and getting the rewards taken care of for our donors (take a moment to read through what we've worked out!) Sound-Check needs the final number to be at least $27,000.
This will give Richmonders a whole new way to experience local music. Your well spent dollar will help fund the construction of a 20' x 24' stage fully equipped with dedicated live sound, lights, and some house equipment (cables, mics, stands, monitors, PA, amps, soundboard, lighting).
What makes this stage unique is not only the fact that it's in a warehouse, but it will also have the capabilities to record and film any live performance in HD!
Funding will also pay for some light renovations (painting, fixture upgrades).
If this project is over funded, all proceeds will go into better house equipment, more renovating and possibly adding a wet bar for patrons depending on how much the indiegogo community donates.
Are you excited yet?
What this will do for Richmond's music community
Did you know that Richmond is a part of the top 5 most tattooed cities in America? It's true, but why? It is because Richmonders love expressing themselves in artistic ways. Even though we rank so high in tattooes per capita, for some reason our music scene does not rank in the same league. I've been wondering why for many years. Now I know the answer. It is because there aren't any ways for our music scene to stand out.
Sure there are recording studios, music stores, and storage units all over the city, but no place that combines all services under one roof, AND has a full production stage in the center of its warehouse!
Having a venue like this to support open mic nights, album release parties, battle of the bands, live stage rehearsals, and perhaps band showcases, will definitely boost the involvement of musicians in the local music scene and give the city a centerpiece to promote its up and coming talent without loosing the message behind the liquor sales of a venue.
Sound-Check Studios is not a music venue, it is a musician's community center. Our focus is solely on the music and musicians, and the promotion of both.
Help empower the local music scene with this amazing warehouse show space.
