WHAT IS GIVE ME SHELTER ABOUT?
"Give Me Shelter" is a film to raise awareness for important animal issues around the world. The movie will incorporate the work that many different individuals and animal organizations do in a unique way that has never been done before. The movie illustrates what is really going on with important issues in the animal world such as the underground black market trade of wild and exotic animals, puppy mills, poaching, animal abuse and neglect, conservation, the food we consume, the fur industry, the pet industry and so on. The movie is about the people who dedicate their lives every day to helping rescue, save, rehabilitate and take care of domestic, wild and exotic animals and the hardships that they face to support their passion. "Give Me Shelter" has the capability of changing the lives of so many different species of animals around the world whose issues otherwise would not be exposed.
We want to give our audience a chance to be a part of this uniquely amazing film and help us make a difference. That is why we are presenting you with this amazing opportunity to contribute to "Give Me Shelter."
We have been submitting the 4 min trailer to the film as a short documentary to film festivals around the US to get a feel for what people think. There has been an amazing response and we won Best Documentary Short at the Los Angels Cinema Festival of Hollywood. Next month we will be screening the trailer at the Studio City Film Festival where it is up for another award for Best Documentary Short. We are hopeful that when the feature length film is done it will raise a lot of awareness for all of the most crucial animal issues in the world today and be one of the most successful documentaries to date!

BEHIND THE SCENES FILMING AT THE SHELTERS!
ABOUT THE CREATOR/PRODUCER
My name is Katie Cleary and I am the executive producer of Give Me Shelter. I am an actress/model/producer/animal advocate in Los Angeles and my first break into entertainment came from the TV show "America's Next Top Model" Season #1 while still in college. After the show, I landed the role of briefcase beauty #11 on NBC’s “Deal or no Deal,” as well as roles on “CSI NY,” “Chuck,” and “Working Class." I have graced many different magazines covers and traveled the world working in entertainment. My goal is to incorporate the work I do with animals and raise awareness for the most prevalent animals issues in the world
My passion is rescuing and helping all animals. I founded the Animal Welfare Organization "Peace 4 Animals" to create awareness and to help and protect all the magnificent creatures we share this planet with (www.Peace4Animals.com). In my free time, I try to do what I can to find homes for them and bring awareness about conservation efforts and animal issues all around the world, including saving endangered species from extinction. I volunteer at "The Wildlife Waystation" and I am active in charity work with various animal organizations including the HSUS & SpcaLA.
I created and produced the "Diamond's Not Fur" Red Carpet Charity Event Hosted by: (Betty White) in 2011 in Hollywood. "Diamonds Not Fur" raised money for the spcaLA and the "Fur Free West Hollywood Movement" and their animal welfare programs to prevent cruelty and to rescue and care for all animals. The event was the catalyst to the passing of the "West Hollywood Fur Free Bill" so that no one can buy or sell fur in the city of West Hollywood because of the pain and torture the animals endure. http://www.DiamondsNotFur.com/
Big Cats are one of my favorite species of animals and I have been working with them for over eight years. In 2012, I produced the event "Stars For Stripes" hosted by Alison Eastwood to benefit the Satpuda Landscape Tiger program in India to save the last of the 3,500 remaining tigers in the wild.
My organization Peace 4 Animals has many projects in the works to be launched in the fall of 2013, some of which include the documentary “Give Me Shelter." It is about the people who dedicate their lives to rescuing domestic, wild and exotic animals and take care of them for the rest of their lives. We are currently working on the environmental educational act (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/227/837/923/) and obtaining 200k signatures to bring to congress in 2013 so that children all over our country can be better educated in proper environmental conservation, the importance of protecting our wildlife and endangered species and protecting our natural world through recycling, reusing and reducing.
In order to save the millions of different species of animals we share this planet with; something needs to be done on behalf of those with no voice who depend on us to survive. We've seen all of these movies of so many adorable animals doing funny things that make us laugh, but we never dig into the lives of animals behind the scenes and impact viewers with real people who are passionate for this cause. Do we want to be the generation that lets tigers go extinct, or sees the last white rhino? Wouldn’t we want to be the generation that stopped the annual dolphin slaughter in Taiji or saved the last orangutans in Indonesia? Their lives are literally in our hands and we can either continue pushing forward to impact and educate the world on what is really going on or we can just give up. I will never give up! I firmly believe that if people actually knew the facts and stories behind these species that they would not sit back and do nothing. The problem is that companies make big profits off the exploitation of animals and therefore hide the cruel realities of their business from public consciousness. How about we show the world something that actually feeds their intellect and helps make a difference in the world!
