Kirov Academy of Ballet of Washington, DC is at a crossroads.
Although we are known around the world for producing professional-level ballet dancers, many people in our own backyard are unaware of the Kirov Academy of Ballet. By Getting to the Lisner Auditorium, George Washington University's 1,500 seat world-class venue, we will increase awareness of the school in the Washington, DC community so that we can secure coveted funding from individual donors, build an endowment and reaffirm our spot as one of the top classical ballet academies in the world, for generations to come.
Getting to the Lisner is make or break for our school. After having produced a major performance off campus only one other time, we are now attempting to do something that has never been done in the 23-year history of the school—mount a second consecutive major production off campus at a main stage venue, instead of holding it on campus as we usually do. We are planning to present our 2013 Spring Performance Series at the Lisner Auditorium - featuring La Sylphide Act II and George Balanchine's Allegro Brillante, May 23-25, 2013. If we are successful, we know that the heightened local awareness will help solidify the school's reputation and attract the types of funders who can help us grow. Because, honestly, we are a leading ballet academy with student dancers who can perform on par with those at professional companies.
But this move to the Lisner and the enhanced visibility that it will bring us requires an investment—a bigger investment than we've ever made before for a single production. Bottom line: we need $75,000 to make these performances a reality.
Production costs can add up quickly. For example, we need $30,000 to secure the venue, $5,000 to pay the guest choreographer, $20,000 for scenery and costumes, and $20,000 for media buys and printing to promote the show.
Your support will help us pull it off.
In return you'll experience some awesome perks including:
- Roundtrip airfare for 2 to St. Petersburg, Russia to visit the famed Mariinsky Theatre
- a 3 Night Stay in Washington, DC at the luxurious Dupont Circle Hotel
- VIP tickets to our performances
- Exclusive KAB gear, and much more…
If we are successfully able to produce this spring performance series, we KNOW that we will significantly enhance the school's credibility and visibility, and signal that we have truly arrived on the scene.
Your contribution is a vote of support that we need to move to bigger venues, woo larger audiences, and create the groundswell of support required to help our academy continue to thrive.
