Frog Prince is a very special kitty who became ill very quickly, which left us with some hefty vet bills. Any help would be a big deal to our family!

Short Summary

About two days ago, Frog Prince got very sick-- he couldn't keep his food down, couldn't use the bathroom, and was very lethargic. We took him into the vet without realizing that it was an emergency situation. Frog had a blockage in his bladder, which had become inflamed and moved out of place, causing his kidneys to start to shut down.

As of tonight (Tuesday, June 24) he is still in the hospital with a urinary catheter and is being given intravenous fluid to help combat his dehydration. He is stable, but his condition is still touch-and-go for now. He may need additional days at the vet in order to make sure he's well and truly healthy enough to come home, but we won't know until sometime Wednesday morning.

What We Need & What You Get

Right now, we're faced with about $1000 worth of vet bills for the physical exam, the medication, the catheter, and the hospital stay. That still doesn't cover the cost of the medication he will need in the upcoming weeks to fix his bladder, or the cost of prescription cat food that they recommend he stay on for the rest of his life, but we don't yet have an estimate on those things. Even if we don't reach our entire goal, any amount would help us continue to pay rent, buy food for ourselves and our kitties, and pay what's due to the vets who took care of Frog.

We don't have much to offer in terms of reward beyond our gratitude (and many many pictures of our sweet kitties). However, we're both artists, and can offer sketches or art in exchange for those who would like to see something for their contribution. Slimm and Milly each have art blogs where you can see samples of their work.

The Impact

We are a couple of nonbinary queer art kids living in the midwest, and our two kitties-- Frog Prince, and his son Murphy-- make our lives so much better. They've gotten us through a lot of hard times, and they're both incredibly special. Frog is a sweetheart, and has stuck with Milly since he was a baby. They are such an important part of our little family. Frog is a young cat-- only about two years old-- and we know he has many years of love left in him before it's really his time to go.

Both of us are low-income-- Slimm works at a retail job part-time while attending college, and Milly is currently working two jobs while paying off student loans. A thousand dollars isn't too far beyond our reach, but it's going to be very difficult to shoulder the cost into fall when Slimm starts school again, and any amount of help would go a long way.

Other Ways You Can Help

Sharing this message in any way would be a huge help to us! Tell your friends, share on facebook or tumblr, however you can. Any well-wishes are also extremely appreciated, and they can be directed either to Slimm or Milly's respective ask boxes on tumblr. Any help at all is hugely appreciated.
