I am on a mission to serve the section of our population that's often forgotten despite their desire to bring joy to others, adults with various disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Seniors. Believing that fun is first and fitness is second, I started a small business registered as Jamestown Dance and Fitness, LLC. Understanding that no amount of well-being should be withheld from those who live with physical and mental health challenges, my remote fitness company offers energizing classes to boost weight loss, moods, energy levels, body toning and an old-fashioned good night's rest for participants ages 25 and over.
I would like to use the art of Dance Fitness to teach free classes to adults with disabilities and special needs and their caregivers around the country. I plan to travel the country 3-6 weeks (as my schedule allows) during the summer of 2014, documenting my journey through blogging and photos. My budget will allow me to host 25 classes at various adult daycare facilities.
My rough budget includes:
$1,800 for gas, parking, tolls, rental car and a hotel.
$ 700 for food and supplies along the way if needed
$ 500 used for website fees and music license.
$5 - Put your name on the "Thank you" List. Plus you'll get updates on how our fundraising is going.
$10 - Put your name on the "Thank you" List. Plus you'll get updates on how our fundraising is going, and a Jamestown Dance and Fitness rubber bracelet.
$20 - Put your name on the "Thank you" List. Plus you'll get updates on how our fundraising is going, and receive a Jamestown Dance and Fitness rubber bracelet and autograph photo.
$50 - Put your name on the "Thank you" List. Plus you'll get updates on how our fundraising is going, a Jamestown Dance and Fitness rubber bracelet, a autograph photo and towel.
$100 - All the above plus a T-shirt.
In the event that all funds are not received, the money will still be used to teach classes, it will just minimized the amount of classes being taught.
So what's so special about my classes? Please see my testimonials below:
"You're Terrific! Gilda, Thank you so much for coming to the Transitions program to do Zumba with us! It was a great workout enjoyed by both the clients AND Staff! Come back Anytime!"
- L. Hensley, Director, National Church Residences
"Thank you!!! They really had a good time and everyone was talking about trying it again and encouraging the others to try it next time. They had a ball! Please come back!"
- C. English, Asst Director, The Pickerington Center
"I really commend Gilda Drammeh. She is a Zumba instructor who uses her talent to reach diverse audiences. Yesterday she taught a special needs class as well as a senior class (with a lot of the class being wheelchair users). She created unique routines to fit both audiences and then took it up a notch at the end when the staff wanted to join in. Good for you, Gilda. Keep doing your thing!"
