FOREVER YOURS is the next short film from the partnership of new young director Bruno Collins and writer Craig Daniel Adams who are creating work under the umbrella of GIANT JACK PRODUCTIONS.
Marred by the emotional scars of his previous relationship, a lonely receptionist tries to piece back together his life and move on, but his burgeoning feelings for a charming colleague force him to deal with the demons from his past.
The script for FOREVER YOURS was entered into the international BlueCat Screenplay competition this year to resounding feedback:
An engaging, probing, brutal short film script
You have constructed an emotional, cathartic, coming of age short film script and do a beautiful job illustrating this sad story or someone just trying to move on and be less vulnerable. It’s extremely touching and you appropriately mine it for its emotional depth. You do it justice.
Director Bruno Collins on FOREVER YOURS:
FOREVER YOURS is a beautiful story; tragic, but beautiful. At the core of it is grief and love; how the two connect and how we deal with them and move on or don't. We all have gone, or will go, through this; whether it's a lover, friend, sibling, parent or grandparent. The journey of losing those we love is one that we all will take. It can make us stronger or bring us down, but for any chance to move on we must at some point let go. That doesn't mean forgetting, but allowing ourselves not to be held down by our own sense of loss - something that can be painful. In our story Eric has that journey to travel. He has to allow himself to move on, but he can't let go of the love he has. To say goodbye is the hardest thing to do because it seems so final.
This film is very important to us and we believe it is a story that has to be told.
We had massive success earlier this year with FOUR:Play – the Vignettes. Made with proceeds from the successful crowd-funding campaign via IndieGoGo, FOUR:Play – the Vignettes was given a West End Screening and has had over 3000 views on YouTube to date.
Some intelligently-written, tightly-directed and highly impressive short films. Funded by a crowdsourcing campaign on Indiegogo and created with care on a shoestring budget, these vignettes are designed to illustrate the style and tone of the feature [NOBODY GETS ME LIKE YOU] and introduce the main characters. If these shorts are any indication of the quality of the final product, it’s an exciting project in terms of modern British cinema, let alone gay-themed movies.
On top of the success of the Vignettes (a prelude to our feature project in development, NOBODY GETS ME LIKE YOU) we have recently self-funded two new short films, KIT and The GENTS, which are currently in post-production. We hope to show you trailers of both throughout the campaign.
KIT, The GENTS and FOREVER YOURS will act as a trio of shorts illustrating our voice and style as filmmakers.
Our aim is to tell stories that whilst having LGBT characters in the leading role; those characters are not defined by their sexualities. We tell stories about individuals, their relationships, families and love, that we believe are thematically universal and accessible to all, with no socio/political agenda.
YOURS is our most ambitious project to date and
this is why we are returning to IndieGoGo to ask for your help to get it made.
We truly believe it shows who we are as filmmakers and storytellers, and have
high hopes for it in the 2014/15 festival circuit. We are also bringing
together the production team we hope to use on NOBODY GETS ME LIKE YOU, so
that FOREVER YOURS will serve as an example of our intended look and
storytelling style to potential future producers/investors.
DIRECTOR – BRUNO COLLINS
Bruno has a BA in 3D Animation and an MA in Film and TV Directing from the University of Hertfordshire.
He had great online success with his first short film THE MORNING AFTER and subsequently with FOUR:PLAY – the Vignettes.
Working with motion graphics and editing, Bruno's main focus is the story that we tell.
We see our lives in stories. They are how we process the world around us and connect with others, and through these stories we convey our own experiences, perspectives and ultimately bond. We are made by our stories and how we tell them.
What I want to communicate to an audience is an experience; an emotional state.
WRITER – CRAIG DANIEL ADAMS
Craig trained as an actor at Arts Educational Schools, London.
FOUR:PLAY- the Vignettes marked Craig’s professional debut as a writer. He has since gone on to write and produce two further shorts, KIT and The GENTS, as well as completing the script for the feature, NOBODY GETS ME LIKE YOU.
Feedback on NOBODY GETS ME LIKE YOU from BlueCat Screenplay competition.
A well written ensemble romantic comedy reminiscent in tone to ‘Love, Actually’ and ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral.’
Tones of light drama and rom-com blend very nicely in this story about the complications surrounding an upcoming wedding. The screenplay is well-paced and structured, with a large but not excessive cast of rounded characters that definitely inspire sympathy and affection in the audience. The dialogue is clear, evocative of character, natural and entertaining.
It’s easy to care about your ensemble of cosmopolitan Londoners as they search for love.
