Anybody that knows me knows that I love cupcakes. I love eating them, I love baking them, and I love ridiculous kitschy products that have cupcakes on them. After spending a while searching for Toronto's equivalent to my favourite Calgary cupcake shop and chronicling my quest on my blog.
Somewhere along the way I decided that I would also start trying to make my own cupcakes. I invested in a very inexpensive handmixer and started baking. The results have been tasty, but have led me to wanting to test the waters in making baking more than just a hobby. I got a small taste last summer when I started an online bake sale to help fundraise for my travels to Ghana.
I'm by no means ready to jump into the bakery owning world, but I am ready to start sharing my cupcakes with more than just my group of friends. The Toronto Underground Market is a great way to test the waters and see if people really like my cupcakes, or if they're just being nice.
What I Need & What You Get
To be a vendor at the Toronto Underground Market it costs $200 each time. That however, is just the base cost. I'd also needs supplies to brand myself in order to make this a successful venture, transport the cupcakes to the Market, and to bake the cupcakes themselves. My goal is to start off with the July TUM, which requires registering by June 11.
The mininimum you can ask to raise through Indiegogo is $500. That's what I'm asking for. This at the very least would cover the cost of vending at two markets and costs associating with transporting a large quanitity of cupcakes (containers and a Zipcar).
With every $5 given to help me sell my cupcakes, I will give you one cupcake. For $25, I'll round it up to 6 cupcakes, for $50 you'll get a dozen, etc. Flavours of cupcakes will be based on the number I am making and level of creativity at the time!
If I don't reach the $500 goal, then I put what I have towards the first market and reevalutae my goals towards the second based on success and my employment status.
Other Ways You Can Help
