"EDUCATE to ACTIVATE" Get This Book "21st Century - The Age Of Protection" Into Schools & Libraries!
There are at least 60 art photos shared in the book including the individual paintings that have a strong story to expose in each chapter. The chapters speak about an animal and their background, then how this story was painted as a visual voice, finishing with the positive impacts that have happened the past 6 years that have impacted this species life.
“21st Century, Age of Protection” is a personal and passionate journey of author Bob Timmons as he recounts his own journey as an animal activist. From sharks to seals, turtles to tuna, each chapter descriptively highlights the pain and suffering inflicted by mankind against the ocean’s creatures in the name of competition, greed, entertainment and ignorance - and the shocking lengths the perpetrators will go to hide or justify their actions.
Shocking as they may be, each tale of travesty also brings with it a message of hope, with concrete examples of progress made as a result of activist campaigns. Indeed, Bob provides ample evidence that activism is effective, and shows how individual actions – from making informed consumer choices, to writing to a company that may seem indirectly involved in an issue, to raising an issue with politicians – can translate into positive change for the planet.
Bob’s paintbrush has become his “personal weapon” in his crusade to protect ocean life, and this is evident from the beautiful and haunting images of ocean life and the insightful stories or their inspiration and creation. Each brings a message of awareness, which will hopefully serve to inspire further self-education and action. By informing ourselves, educating others, leading by example and taking positive actions, change is possible: by becoming more aware of our actions and their consequences, each of us can make better decisions to protect the planet and the LIFE that depends on it."

"My sister and I are big Sea Shepherd supporters, and Bob Timmons has created a great reflection of SSCS in this book with their campaigns that contain interesting and factual, detailed, information, with his incredible hands-on research of positive actions for the ocean. My sis and I give our "green tea party" thumbs up for this book!"

"The effects of climate change, deforestation, species extinction and deoxygenation of the world's ocean, to name a few 21st century threats, are not insular. What affects one species inevitably alters the path of another. We are all connected in this biosphere and all live on one planet. With marine animals assaulted, as they have never been before, with an end result - mass species decimation - the time is NOW to wake up and acknowledge that our fate is inexorably linked to those creatures that lack a voice on the world's stage. Bob Timmons has recreated these threats in the form of visual art, a language understood via the world, and in a way that communicates this harm humans have done. With raw and often emotional text, this is a must-read for anyone who is passionate about survival, not just of the fittest, but also of the web of life, as a whole."
