Twenty-Five students, two teachers, looking out to change education and our future! EcoJustice is an eighth grade classroom based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. We are truly a classroom without borders, literally. EcoJustice students learn the grade 8 curriculum through many experiences that are taught through a social justice and environmental justice lens. Our dream is to meet with the people of the land and get the true story of the individuals who have been created by the land. The emotional impact created by this experience will truly be life and world changing.
Our goal is to study and create awareness surrounding the uniqueness of the Great Bear Rainforest, the Git-Ga’at First Nations and their traditional territory’s integrity versus the Enbridge pipeline. Our mission is to reach out and transform the world around us, so we ask you to please stand beside us and help us shape our future. We look to protect one of the last places on earth where wild ocean meets wild rainforest. This special place is the only home on earth where spirit bears exist. Experts along with local First Nations estimate that there are only 200-400 left in existence, and it’s our job to give them a voice!
Moreover, we want to connect to the people by investing in their lives. Each of our students will pair up with another student and live the three days as a local. We will invest in connecting with the community in terms of way of life as well as the spiritual ceremonies. Through our webpage you will get to experience our students’ life changing opportunity.
What We Need & What You Get
Please give to our cause! No donation is too big or too small! Our goal is to raise $15 000. The major cost is our transportation to British Columbia from Saskatchewan. We will travel to both Vancouver Island and the Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia, Canada. If we meet our target, we will donate $3 000 to the local Gitga'at First Nation community to further enhance environmental and educational opportunities for the community. If we fail to meet our financial goal, students will still pursue their environmental awareness promoting the rarity and uniqueness of this special ecosystem. Our goal is to provide a socio-ecological learning experience outside of our home province of Saskatchewan.
Please look at the incentives created by the students of EcoJustice; they are both thoughtful and entertaining. Prices range from $1.00 to $2000.00
