“I don’t think I want to eat chicken nuggets anymore!”
That's what Rachel Leone, 10 of Roselle Park, NJ said after learning what's inside chicken nuggets -- only 19% protein, 38 ingredients and many chemicals. That reaction (totally unrehearsed and unscripted) showed that in just a few minutes, kids can go from loving junk food to avoiding it.
When they see soda, they need to think sugar and remember that too much sugar often leads to diabetes and other serious diseases. That's when the light bulb goes off and the kids get it. The results are astounding.

A "Preventable Tragedy"
The obesity epidemic affects 80% of all families. Some call today’s children “Generation XXL.” Tragic, gut-wrenching and “how could this happen?” stories are in the news every single day. Perhaps a precious child you know is headed towards lifelong obesity and related health problems.
As an experienced medical nutritionist specializing in kids, teens and families, I see children suffering from the terrifying ravages of obesity. I go home every day, saddened by a never-ending stream of kids and teens that are really depressed because of their enormous weight gains, extremely frustrated parents who don’t know what to do about it, and both wondering how it happened in the first place.
It’s heart-breaking what is happening to kids and teenagers: because sugar-laden and processed food is so cheap, so readily available and so heavily advertised (4,700 TV ads a year), kids are literally gorging themselves with added sugar, salt and bad fats, all day long. These horrendous habits negatively affect every aspect of kids’ and teens’ lives.
They are poisoning their bodies, starting
as early as toddlers. The staggering
amount of added sugar and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) they consume (on
average 120 pounds a year, which is the equivalent of about 14,600 teaspoons!) has
zero nutritional value, yet I know that most kids don’t even understand that
simple, basic fact.
Every day, kids consume a whopping 30 or more teaspoons of added sugar. So many kids don’t know that sugar and HFCS are hidden in soda, shakes, ketchup and other foods and drinks, which underscores the need for education. They also eat way too much salt and bad fats. They keep gaining weight, with no end in sight.
With 80% of adults being overweight or obese, most kids grow up in households with at least one heavy adult. Many come to think that being overweight is OK and normal.
The Results of the Childhood Obesity Tragedy
This generation of kids is suffering with “adult” diseases before age 10: Type 2 Diabetes, fatty liver disease (usually found in adult alcoholics), sleep apnea and many others. Over 45 diseases – many serious – are linked to obesity in our kids. They are rapidly becoming hopeless statistics.
It gets worse:
- Children who are obese are more than twice as likely to die before age 55 as kids with a healthy weight.
- Overweight and obese children and teens face a higher risk for more severe and frequent bullying, rejection by their peers and are chosen less often as friends.
- Weight discrimination has increased by 66% over the last 10 years.
- Some teachers view overweight students as untidy, more emotional, less likely to succeed in school and more likely to have family problems; they have lower expectations for overweight kids. (Source for all statistics: www.fasinfat.org)
I’ve read a lot lately about how numerous experts are predicting that if nothing is done, this younger generation might not outlive their parents.
That is astounding – a first in modern history. Can you imagine that?
What I do know is that while childhood obesity is tragic, it IS preventable.
An Innovative Solution to Help Millions of Kids
As a nutritionist that has helped over 2,500 kids of all ages and their families, I know how to get our kids to WANT to eat healthy and prevent obesity from ever happening. And I know how to help parents motivate and support their kids. I’ve done it over and over again with great success for over 20 years.

Why My Fresh New Approach Empowers Kids to Eat Healthy
Getting kids to eat healthy is a challenge for most parents. Shouting at kids about what to eat and what to avoid doesn’t work.
It’s getting kids to the point where they want to eat healthy and avoid the junk. We’ve got to get our kids to say, “I want to eat healthy and not get sick. Please help me do that.” Given the chance, kids will embrace healthy eating!
The “Eat Right. Drink Right. Live Right” videos have a unique combination of techniques that, unlike any others, motivate kids to take control of their health:

The Art and Power of Empowering Kids
In my video “Good and Bad Fast Foods,” I showed kids what’s inside chicken nuggets. They cracked them open and didn’t see much chicken. One said the inside looked like mashed potatoes. They learned there were 38 ingredients, very little chicken and why nuggets were unhealthy.
After the shoot, one of the boys met up with his dad, who had come back from buying dinner – you guessed it, chicken nuggets. Upon seeing them, the boy said “Dad, didn’t you hear how bad they are for you? All the chemicals inside and hardly any protein. Why did you buy them?”
My goal is to replicate that reaction with all the unhealthy foods and drinks that kids and teens consume every day! This young boy got it! Others will too.

$250,000, we will give away 20 thousand DVDs.
Why I’m Doing This
A friend who knew about this project recently wrote me, and after reading her message, I knew I had to include it here. “Nancy, knowing about your ‘Eat Right’ videos, I wanted to tell you about my experience today. Just got back from a birthday party for a friend’s one year old.
There were about 12 kids, their parents and a couple of sets of grandparents. Out of about 20 parents, I’d say 18 were overweight and probably 12 were obese and half of those 12 were so heavy that they must be in the morbid category, whatever you call that. And most of the grandparents were the same, so I could vividly see how unhealthy eating habits were handed down from generation to generation.
Anyhow, as I looked at these adorable toddlers, I got sad. Sad because IF the parents don’t break the cycle of unhealthy eating, these kids will be obese for the rest of their lives, and they’re only a year old. Based on what you’ve told me about sugar, I thought that most of these toddlers are already getting addicted to sugar. So, what should have been a happy occasion for me didn’t turn out that way because I saw a tragedy unfolding right in front of me. I hope millions of parents get your videos.
