Restaurant Report is a labor of love. And we need your help in order to reach all 6 of our initial markets (Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC). We strongly believe in the crowdfunding community and we are excited to be a part of Indiegogo, where people are coming together to support each other.
Health scores of a restaurant is something that we are very passionate about. In fact we strongly believe that there’s a direct reflection of how much a restaurant cares about their business, the public and their hygiene. There’s no question that we will leave a restaurant with a poor health score without hesitation. And it came as a big surprise after researching all over the Internet that there wasn’t an app that showed health inspection scores across the nation and no national database that encompassed the grades. So we decided to take it upon ourselves to build this national database and make it easier for anyone to check health scores online.
This is where we need your help. If we succeed with this drive, we will continue to build the national database even more outside our initial markets and you will be our partners on this!
We want to share this information on health scores and make it readily available and, if we are successful here, we want to share our good fortune. In fact, we strongly believe that pushing this type of information to the forefront will help reduce the amount of hospitalizations (225,000) that occurs in the U.S. as a result of food poisoning. If this mobile app can find funding here on Indiegogo, it will allow us to prevent you from getting sick by eating out at a restaurant and enjoy life.
This is what the app looks like:
Restaurant Report is an app that keeps you from getting sick so you can enjoy your life by allowing you to eat at restaurants with good health scores. Spending days crawled up in the bed and bathroom is not how you want to use your time. It prevents you from going to work, having fun and/or spending time with your family and friends and of course eating. We get that and we want to help you avoid this.
There are 76 million cases of preventable food poisoning in the U.S. and restaurants cause about half of them. We all cringe when we find out we’ve just eaten at a place that got a 54 on their last inspection. In fact, we thank the universe that we did not get sick from eating the food. Imagine seeing the health inspection grade of a restaurant before you get there or not get the surprise of the 54 after eating at one.
With Restaurant Report you can stop relying solely on reviews when trying to figure out the new restaurant you would like to try on Friday night. You decide which restaurants you want to see. Simply tell the app what grades you want to see from the choices: A,B,C,U/F. Once you’ve selected your filtering options, you’re good to go. The app will remember your settings. You can also see trending data on each restaurant through current and previous scores. If you do get sick from eating at a restaurant or see something, you can report it to the local county health department right from the app.
If you’d like to see some preview screenshots of the app you can go HERE.
If you take a look to the right you will see all kinds of rewards, and we hope that some of these really speak out to you. Anything you can pledge helps us get closer to our goal of putting Restaurant Report in your pocket.
Please check our updates from time to time. We are finding some amazing projects here on Indiegogo, and we’d love to do our part by showing support for our fellow creators. Go take a look… we know you will agree these are some cool projects!
Please check the Restaurant Report Facebook Page often, as we will be updating our progress all the time. We want you to be involved, so reach out to us there and leave comments!
We could not do this without you. Restaurant Report is a quest to help you eat out safely and we hope you help us build this story. Thanks for your consideration, and thanks for doing this with us!
