'Dominion' is a feature-length documentary presenting an uncompromising, damning exploration of the various ways animals are used and abused by humans, particularly in the meat, dairy, egg, clothing and entertainment industries.
Filmed primarily in Australia, ‘Dominion’ combines footage from handheld, hidden, and aerial drone cameras, much of it never seen before, to convey both the terrifying scale of an empire built on secrecy – and the individual stories of its victims.
Focusing on the legal, industry-standard practices that occur all over the world, the film questions the morality and validity of humankind’s dominion over the animal kingdom, advocating not for minor improvements to their welfare but for a deeper conversation about our right to exploit those we deem inferior to ourselves.
‘Dominion,’ the sequel to 2014's Lucent, premieres in Melbourne March 29 and then in the U.S., preceding and complementing six months of coordinated worldwide animal rights activism. DVD and digital release will follow screenings.
Why we need your help
While much of the film’s footage has already been captured, a significant portion remains or needs re-shooting, incurring costs such as travel and additional equipment. Post-production costs include professional color grading and sound engineering to maximise the production quality of the final piece, allowing us to enter it into film festivals and seek distribution on platforms such as Netflix.
Following the film’s release, we also need as much funding as possible to distribute and promote it, to ensure it gets seen by as many people as possible. This includes the following costs:
With your help we can make this an incredibly powerful tool for achieving meaningful change – by opening the eyes of consumers who had no idea what they’ve been supporting, and by empowering and motivating activists.
"We will rise together."
