Documentary 2014: The Florida Renaissance Festival

 What is this campaign for?

Humaya Films has teamed up with Bobby Rodriguez Productions to bring you a behind the scenes look at the award winning Florida Renaissance Festival.  We are hoping to breakdown misconceptions about these kinds of festivals, and provide an up close, insightful, and personal view of the industry and the lives of various local performers at the Florida Renaissance Festival.

Who are we?

Humaya Films is a South Florida-based film crew made up of a rag-tag group of wannabe superheroes, in that we all come from different backgrounds to make up the classiest bunch of artists this side of the Mason Dixon. Infused with a love of writing, drawing, acting, film, and music, simply put, we create stories. We want to bring magic to the real world, and transcend each of our individual talents to create something beautiful, moving, and engaging.

Vivian Orozco had a love of stories and storytelling from a young age. It is no wonder that her passions took her directly into the fields of theater, the visual arts, and animation. It was in college that she discovered a passion for film making. An accomplished artist and performer, she delights in telling stories through the magic of theater and uses her imagination to visualize things in new and unique ways. She's very excited to be pursuing her dreams with Humaya Films!

Alexa Baray is a graduate of the University of Miami's Frost School of Music having majored in both Musical Theatre and English Literature. An avid lover of all things theatrical she began life on stage at the age of two and continues to hone her craft through creative outlets including theatre, film, and dance. She has worked with several distinguished artists including Tommy Tune and Barry Manilow and is excited to work with Humaya Films.

Bobby Rodriguez is an award winning entertainer, producer, director and businessman with 40 years of experience in the entertainment field and is highly respected by everyone in the entertainment world.

Bobby Rodriguez Productions is an award-winning Special Events & Entertainment Production Company, for both corporate events and private parties. Entertaining South Florida since 1981! They are also responsible for hosting and putting on the award winning Florida Renaissance Festival, suspended between Myth and History!

What is the Florida Renaissance Festival?

The Florida Renaissance Festival is a show set in the 16th Century. It re-creates the village of Kegsworthy. Over one hundred merchants and artisans demonstrate and sell their 16th century wares in this village. There is glass blowing, hammered pewter, wooden toys, unique pottery, clothing and a myriad of other unique, period crafts.  There are also hundreds of costumed performers, on twelve stages and literally all around the village, even in the streets. The crowds can cheer armored knights as they mount their steeds, aim their lances and charge at a joust. They can also meet the Royal Court as they visit the village on their royal progress.  This Festival is a place where one can leave the present behind, and travel back to an era suspended in myth and history!

What's the money for?

Though we believe in good old-fashioned, DIY for as much as we can handle, there is still a lot of stuff that we simply need pecuniary stability to ensure. Your funds will help cover payment of our crew, as well as making sure we can all eat during filming. To shoot this documentary in top-quality style, the money will also cover supplies like sound and film equipment. Naturally, we also want to make sure that we can provide incentives to all of our generous donators, too!

Why donate to us?

We want provide an up close, insightful, and personal view of the Florida Renaissance Festival  industry as well as the lives of the performers at the Florida Renaissance Festival. This is a Festival that is dear to our hearts, and we are eager to show case the level of work and time that goes into putting a festival of this caliber together. We want to create an honest story, and we would really appreciate your help in making that dream a reality.
