Help fund the development of the first amateur-build space capsule in the world... Basic construction

Our mission is very simple. We are working towards launching ourselves into space.

This is a non-profit suborbital space endeavor founded and led by Kristian von Bengtson and Peter Madsen, based entirely on sponsors, private donators and part time specialists. Since May 2008 we have been working full time to reach our goal of launching ourselves into space and to show the world that human space flight is possible without major government budgets and administration.
We are approximately 30 people building all the hardware ourselves and need your help to keep going. So far, we have launched several rockets and tested 2 space capsules. This is not easy, but we will get there. It is an trial and error process and to every technological challenge there is a technological answer.

The previous capsule (Tycho Deep Space)

We are creating a one person space capsule and for every capsule we create we get many steps further in the process. Our previous space capsule Tycho Deep Space was a demonstrator for our rescue and parachute system

Next level space capsule (Tycho Deep Space II)

This capsule will be developed during a period of 2 years. It will be a flight ready capsule containing life support for one person. The process is exciting and long and starts with general construction and pressure hull designing and production in aluminum

While the launch vehicle group is perfecting their launchers with active guidance I need funding for the first pressure system design and production.

How we work and finance

Copenhagen Suborbitals has no payment to members. We are all doing this voluntarily and find other means of personal finance. Founding members Peter Madsen and myself are living purely from lectures and speeches. Your donated money for this will go 100% into the organization and I can guarantee that your donated money will be burned in a blaze of fire and inspiration.

We produce everything ourselves at our facility workshop in Copenhagen. Welding, machining and hammering is a daily routine for creating the machines which will show the world that the human being is capable of going into space without major government funding.

What you will be supporting

If you donate to this you will be supporting:

  • The development and basic buildup of the space capsule construction
  • The foundation for further research and testing of our space capsule

What you will get

If you donate to this you will be getting:

  • An in depth insight in rocketry and space capsule production
  • Be a part of a new era of space fligth where private companies, DIY projects and private parties are leading the way
  • Your name connected to one of the most exiting space projects
  • Joining people around the world believing that we are still capable of doing exactly what we set our minds to do.

Open source

This project is open for everyone interested in DIY project and space. We blog locally in Denmark and on WIRED.COM.

If you have missed our adventure so far, please join us and take a look at the our youtube channel and picasa website. Please, do also read this WIRED article.

I hope you will join our project and help us show the world that we haven given up on being pioneering human beings!
