Your backing will enable my team to host an event called Hacking-4-Muzik in NYC. It will allow us to attract the nation's top programmers, software developers, graphic designers, and techy musicians, who will gather to create innovative software and accelerate the public launch of the MyMuzik Stand.
The MyMuzik Stand is a portable, 20" touchscreen music stand that will eliminate paper sheet music and the hassles it creates. It will allow hands-free page turning, touchscreen annotating, and online storage of your sheet music library so that you’ll never lose a page again. It is not only for the individual musician but will be a game changer for organized ensembles as well, because each stand can be wirelessly connected to allow real-time sharing of annotations and other information.
The hardware and business side of things is really coming together – I’ve got a great board that’s helping me orchestrate manufacturing and logistics. My company is also the pilot project for a new business acceleration program called CEO Ventures, run by the local economic development organization. They’ll be providing us with incredible services and business support in the coming year.
The last major hurdle is software. I have a small but incredibly talented and dedicated development team, and they’ve been working around the clock to push forward on our ambitious timetable. Hacking-4-Muzik will help us accelerate and meet that goal.
The 54-hour coding marathon will take place in one of NYC's business incubators near Times Square, building upon the success of December 2011's Syracuse Hacking-4-Muzik. At the end of the weekend, the newly formed teams will showcase 'the fruits of their labor' to a panel of judges and community members. Exemplary teams will receive prizes for their work, and individuals who fit our culture and work standard will be offered a place on the MyMuzik team.
The explosion of creative output from NYC Hacking-4-Muzik will propel the MyMuzik Stand toward a successful 2012 launch. Software is the last milestone for making digital music stands a reality, and this event is important to its success. Our $13,500 event budget includes space rental, prizes, food, and other expenses necessary to attract the best and the brightest. As a young, high-growth startup in our development phase, we have boundless potential, but short term cash is tight. Your help will enable us to stick to our growth strategy and bring that potential to fruition as quickly as possible.
Our goals are truly ambitious, but with your help, we can achieve them. Please pledge what you can!
All of our rewards are IndieGogo exclusives. The software beta is a good example; we are not planning to publicly offer PC software as a stand-alone product. Even if we change our minds, the closed beta will be accessible only to insiders and backers.
Likewise, those who pre-order one or more MyMuzik Stands through this page will always be first in line -- even if there's a long waiting list!
Finally, all rewards are CUMULATIVE, if you wish them to be. For example, if you pledge $650 for a MyMuzik Stand, you may also request membership to the Development Google Group. (There will be space in the backer survey to indicate this.)
