Defeating Dystrophy is the story of two young boys struggling to grow up with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Kenny Frost is seven years old and does not just realize the extent of his disability. He is popular among his friends at school and is known as "the mayor."
Stanley Kocyba on the other hand is eleven and his frustration with his limitations often become outbursts of anger. In addition to his Muscular Dystrophy he is also a little person like his mother Renea. Stanley recieved the good fortune to be one of 54 boys in an experimental study on Muscular Dystrophy treatment that has shown tremendous results for improving the symptoms of Muscular Dystrophy for the first time. Stanley's family could recieve a phone call to begin the second round of treatments in Baltimore, MD at any time.
Defeating Dystrophy is being produced by three Ithaca College students: Nathan Bickell, Matt Bonsant, and Michael Kaneff as a part of their Senior Thesis project. Michael's mother has Muscular Dystrophy and has been producing videos for the past six years for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Defeating Dystophy is his most ambitious Muscular Dystrophy project yet.
