Wow! It has been 20-years since the 1994 graduating class of Benjamin Banneker donned a cap and gown and moved into the "real world." This year we will come together to reminisce and celebrate our achievements with food, fun and a service project of course.
One of our classmates will not be with us.
Daphne Jones has been missing since January 3, 1999. This is the day that she disappeared from her college dorm. She has never been found and her case has never been solved. A synopisis of her story can be found on Essence.com at the following link: http://www.essence.com/2005/06/13/have-you-seen-her/
We want you to help us honor Daphne's life by pledging money towards scholarships that we will give away to a current student who exemplifies the virtues of our classmate.
Our goal is to provide two $1,000 scholarships not just to A+ students but those who exemplify the hard working, friendly and good natured person that we remember Daphne to be. All money raised above this goal will go toward additional scholarships that we will present.
By giving to this scholarship you will be assisting with sending a 2014 Banneker High School graduate to college. In the process, you will also help to keep the memories of Daphne Jones and the hopes of her late mother, renowned Special Education teacher and school administrator, Dr. Marla Oakes alive.
