Whoops! We're currently re-building our website, adding all of our new designs and products and making the site easier to use all around. Unfortunately, many of the links at the right reference the old site. In order to keep us from changing promised perks after you've contributed, Indiegogo doesn't allow us to edit these areas. But you can visit http://curiouscustoms.com/ and get a look at a partial selection of what we have to offer. We're photographing all of our new line and will be getting it up in the next week. Thanks for your understanding; we wear many hats around here!
Hi. We're Dave and Marrilee and we are artists who like to create and share interactive art.
Previously, most of our interactive art was temporary in nature, being shared with our community and then let go; up, up in flames. The art we're now making though centers around a different kind of interactivity: creating platforms that can be shared and re-shared. We want to create a performance stage for the 8th annual Art Outside festival (http://www.artoutside.org) that professional performers, casual entertainers, and those new to sharing their gifts and finding their voice can enjoy an audience from.
Last year we made the prettiest little stage you could cut your teeth on and this year we want to further honor people's contributions by creating an even more magical space.
To create this large piece, we'll be working very closely with half a dozen skilled apprentices who are interested in learning more about wood-working and glass. You will be directly contributing to the growth of their craft and experience as artists.
What We Need & What You Get
$6,000 covers, material cost, sound and light rental, and transport - in that order of cost. The materials budget represents the vast majority. While much of the magic in our former efforts was largely in dressing up simple materials (plywood and 2x4s), with this project we want to invest in maple, cherry and walnut. We hope to create something that can be cherished and used by our community for years to come.
The sound and light rental portion is also noteworthy as we will be recording the scheduled acts so that they will have these materials for their own promotional purposes. So, you're not just building a stage, you're helping to potentially further the careers of dozens of other artists too.
Finally, this isn't an operation we can simply throw in the back of our van. It takes truck rentals and significant logistics planning and dollars.
