Halfway There - Bunker Studio (Brooklyn, NY)
We've crossed the halfway point to our goal and we couldn't be more thankful!! We decided therefore to update the rewards list, making some of the already existing rewards even better, and adding some new exciting options!
We have also now confirmed and announced the location of the recording studio where we will create the album! We locked down two weeks at the incredible Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, NY. Their list of credits include amazing artists such as Moby, The Black Keys, Vijay Iyer, The Roots, Tune-Yards, Brad Meldhau, Nerve, Dub Trio, Dangermouse, many more, and now.... CONSIDER THE SOURCE!!
Check out the updates section of our campaign to see a short video about the recording studio, or go to http://youtu.be/iiV8hdyVovg.
We are Consider the Source, an instrumental band that celebrates a myriad of genres and cultures from jazz, progressive rock, funk, metal, fusion and classical music, to Indian, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, and Asian music. We have traveled to the Middle East, India, Europe and all over the U.S. sharing our sound and honing our craft. The band formed on the foundation of unfiltered creativity and self expression, a stance that has earned us an amazing world wide fan base and both national and international praise in the media from many different types of publications from jazz magazines to metal blogs.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise enough money to record and release our new album, which will be our most ambitious undertaking to date. Based on the amount of new material we've compiled, we've scheduled this release to be a Double Album, incorporating an even wider range of the musical spectrum and more cultural influences than ever before. With experimental new sounds and techniques, the use of new instruments like the Banjo Bass and Dutar, brand new acoustic songs, and new musical influences from areas such as North Africa , Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and more, we're incredibly excited to get in to the studio and start recording!
The goal of this album is to spread our message of unity through music to a much broader audience. We have the music, we have the vision, we have the gusto, but we lack the funds. We need each of you, our backers, to essentially function as our record label and aid us in putting this album out the right way. Any contribution you make, large or small, will help chip away at the massive expense of putting out an album. Without your support, this album would not be possible.
What We Need & What You Get
We are setting our goal for this campaign at $20,000. We anticipate the total cost of releasing the album to exceed this amount, and hope to raise even more.
We want to be very clear and up front about what our expenses are, and where your contributions will go in helping us reach our goal.
Here is a basic breakdown of our expected expenses.
2 weeks in the Recording Studio - $12,000 (The Bunker Studio - Brooklyn, NY)
Mixing - $3,000
Mastering - $2,000
Publicity - $5,000
Original Artwork - $1,500
CD Duplication - $3,000
Estimated Total Cost - $26,500
We've compiled a great list of rewards for all different levels of contribution. A sad reality is that todays music industry is largely run by corporations that are only interested in the bottom line, leaving no room for experimental music like ours to flourish. By teaming up with Indiegogo, we're able to essentially bypass the corporate middle man and connect to you, our fans, directly. This means that contributing here not only makes you a direct part of turning our vision of this album into a reality, but also takes a first step towards affecting change in an industry we would all love to see returned to its former glory.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know that there will be some of you that want to contribute, but are unable to. Well good news!! There are still ways you can help us reach our goal, mainly by spreading the word about this fundraiser!! Share the video or link, tell your friends and family, annoy people at work, post it on your social media, or anywhere else you might find a lurking sourcerer...
We Thank You & WE LOVE YOU ALL.
