Helping people to help animals.

We are seeking donors and angel investors so we can purchase a hostel/restaurant in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, and then use 100% of the profits from it to help local people help animals by supporting animal rescues, clinics, and sanctuaries.  This will be our first of many businesses supporting many more rescues, clinics, and sanctuaries and providing many needed jobs to the community. A first step in this process is to buy a hostel/restaurant to showcase the efficacy of this model.

  • The hostel/restaurant that we intend to buy in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua will dedicate 100% of the profits to rescues, clinics, and sanctuaries. Specifically, it would be able to fund 5 or 6 animal rescues, clinics, and sanctuaries in areas of Nicaragua that have little or no veterinary services.
  • The business has an 85%+ occupancy rate, even in the slow season.  It is very profitable and has very high visibility. In the middle of the slow season, this hostel is often still packed!
  • Efficiency with this model is much higher.  If we were to use $750,000 to operate rescues alone, it would merely be a temporary cushion, and would be gone in less than 6 years. Once $750,000 is invested in a business however, we will be in a position to open 5-6 animal operations and sustain them in the long term.
  • We have found a wonderful veterinarian and we are presently looking for property to open the first clinic.
  • If we do not achieve enough in donations and loans, we intend to rent a house and open a hostel from scratch.

Here is picture of the bustling hostel we are intending to buy.

The work has already started and is ongoing. Read below about some of those touched by our work (and with your help, will soon be):

This is Celia, Everth, and Chachi.  We saw this family on the streets of San Juan Del Sur and noticed Chachi had a limp.  We offered to cover a visit with our vet, but then we found out they all lived on the streets.  We found them a place to stay, Everth is getting enrolled in school, and we are helping Celia to find work. Chachi is getting the vet care she needs to be a happy and healthy pup.

This is Ruby!  She is our first of many rescues.  She was sleeping in the hospital and had a bad skin infection and worms.  We took her away and had our wonderful vet check her out and give her the medications she needed.

This poor horse was so thin that he could barely pull the cart.  He also had many sores around his body.  He is near his retirement which means he will likely be abandoned and left to die.  Let's stop this from being the fate of this horse!

The dog above is obviously very good at scavenging.  He was much closer to a good weight.  However, most street dogs in Nicaragua look like the emaciated dog below.
