CircusFest - Coming to Vancouver Nov 6-9,2014
This 4-day circus festival, is the first of its kind in Vancouver and will showcase top local Circus Artists, as well as bring in some of the most talented national and international performers in the art form.
CircusWest Performing Arts Society, Vancouver's oldest circus school, spearheads the organization of the festival as it celebrates its 30th Anniversary, CircusWest has teamed up with Allison Collins, co-founder of Madskillz (a ground-level circus festival on its way to its 5th year), and aim to bring together the West Coast Circus Community.
With a mission to engage, inspire and celebrate the Circus Community, CircusFest is poised to bring together the best circus talent on the West Coast. The festival features leading circus acts and performers, Main Stage shows, hands-on workshops, installations, cabarets, industry panel discussions, in a weekend of circus exploration and inspiration.
To make this community-building festival a reality, we need your support! Please consider helping us by donating to this campaign. If you are not in position to support financially, help us by sharing this with your friends, and spreading the world.
What We Need & What You Get
We are asking for $20,000 to bring in national and international performers, and to pay for very expensive Vancouver venues.
Circus is highly unique, and so we are able to offer unique perks to donors including circus lessons, meeting performers, and even exclusive private showcases!
This campaign will help fund only a portion of the total costs of running the festival, so we will use all the funds, even if we don't reach our goal or surpass it.
There is a growing awareness of Circus Arts in the West Coast, and a great variety of talent. We would like to inspire and unite local artists, while showcasing their gifts to the world.
CircusFest is going to impact the community by:
Bringing artists from across the world and exposing local artists to new forms of circus art
- Creating opportunities for artists to interact with each other and bring the community together
- Expose the wider Vancouver and West Coast public to the spectacular local Circus Arts that exists here
Last February, CircusWest organized I Love Circus Cabaret, bringing together all the major circus companies and troupes in the lower mainland, and this proved to be an excellent way to bring the community together. Festival Director, Allison Collins, co-founded MadSkills, a ground-level Circus Arts festival happening in June, and this had a huge impact on building the community. We want to build on this momentum to reach the larger Circus Community and grow circus on the West Coast.
