Cinder Pumpkin- What's the movie about?

Fed up of being stepped on and treated like less at school, Cinder Ellen James takes a chance to become a part of the social world to which the gorgeous, unreachable Max belongs and surrenders to a night of glamour, passion and wild twists that will either destroy her or raise her to the highest level of teenage greatness. Will becoming a "princess" be worth it? Or will Cinder discover she is better off as a "pumpkin" ?

THE DIRECTOR

Fi Dieter developed a passion in different artistic branches from an early age.

During middle school in Mexico City, she co-directed the Eton School Theater Company.

Fi had key positions in most of its productions between 2008 and 2010, including scriptwriting, stage design, light and music operation, advertising, and video production.

Since 2007, she has written, directed, produced, edited and starred in more than 50 short cinematic works, always finding herself especially drawn to exploring themes like love, acceptance and the challenges of fitting in.

"As I was merely starting to develop the idea for Cinder Pumpkin, I remembered a brilliant and talented young girl and how she used to think that being different was a bad thing because no one wanted to be her friend. One day, a group of "princesses" gathered up around her at the school's bathroom. After slamming her against the marble sinks, the cubicle doors and the floor, they finally decided to let her go with a bleeding nose and a fair warning never to go near the boy she liked again.

There wasn't a day after that, that I didn't wish that girl would have had the strength to believe in herself, knowing that being different means being unique and wonderful, to stand up for herself against anyone who tried to convince her that she was not worth it... and that's what I created in Cinder".

Cinder's journey is all about wanting a chance to prove her worth and it’s dedicated to every girl who was ever stepped on or made less just because she was different. It teaches that just because you are not popular or you don't comply with the stereotypical beauty standards, it doesn't mean that you are not worth as much or even more than any other girl. Even if, to the eyes of society, you're not a "princess" it is okay to be a pumpkin.

The Production- What We Need!

Cinder Pumpkin will be a 20 minute-long film. It will be shot on November 16-19, 2013 and screened at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA in Spring 2014. Due to it's challenging nature in terms of story, considerable amount of talent needed and the compelling visual and cinematic standards that the film plans to achieve, this campaign was created in order to find supporters like you to help us raise the bar and earn the right to be called FILMMAKERS instead of FILM STUDENTS.

Our goal is to reach $8,000.00 by the last week of October. However, every little bit helps, as it will put a spark of magic in this production. Every single contribution will go towards one of these assets that will make Cinder Pumpkin unforgettable:

Renting an Arri Alexa camera package

Provide catering for five days for nearly 50 actors and crew members

Have a hairdressing and make up team to bring to life the characters of a larger-than-life party scene

Pay for shooting permit fees and secure locations that will bring a creative component to the story: classroom, school hallway, house party and Cinder´s bedroom

Entry fees to submit Cinder Pumpkin to film festivals

Your help will not only make a significant difference, it will also be rewarded. Check out our awesome perks!

Any contribution also entitles you to be a part of the  " I Am Geek Vogue" campaign from which you'll get a special member-exclusive button!

AN IMPACT BEYOND THE SCREEN

Cinder Pumpkin is envisioned as a pioneer in an uprising Indie filmmaking movement that will be known as Geek Vogue.

Cinematic works representing this movement are prone to explore a 21st century social phenomenon in which it is becoming trendy to be unique. This is as paradoxical as the idea that unfashionable, socially-awkward individuals are the new icons of fashion and human behavior. Nevertheless, through the voice of independent filmmakers who have been personally influenced by this phenomenon, it is intended to be proven as a reality that is influencing the modern society. People who were rejected for being incompatible with stereotypes are now starting to handle the reins of pop culture standards.

By contributing to this cause, you will provide an opportunity for young, talented independent artists to share their vision with the world. These people hold in their hands the future of Cinema and are always eager to prove just how much they can accomplish. All the filmmakers behind this project are either pursuing a college degree in visual arts or thriving in the Indie film industry. Thus, we reach out to anyone who understands and appreciates the challenging craft of visual storytelling when there is no big studio supporting its production.
