Formed in 2009, Cin City Burlesque is Cincinnati's premier troupe of classic and neo-burlesque dancers. We specialize in all styles of dancing, from jazz to latin, from ballet to tap, and from contemporary to go-go. We usually staff anywhere from 8-12 dancers, with 3-4 more “guest” performers. Cin City’s acts can be anything from sexy and thoughtful, to funny and satirical. Shows can range from steamy and provocative to downright silly depending on the location and clientele, but are ALWAYS performed with class and sass! CCB's focus is ALWAYS on the dancing, and entertaining the audience from the very first beat of the music, to the very last note of the curtain call. The girls rehearse as a troupe 4-5 hours a week, then several more hours a week on their own. They dance anywhere from 10-20 different group numbers at any given time, and usually have 3-6 solos and duets to pull from as well.
What We Need & What You Get
The focus on CCB shows has ALWAYS been on big spectacular dance numbers. The girls usually spend 4 hours a week rehearsing in their dance shoes, then usually another 40 hours or so performing in them. They are REQUIRED by the company to own both a nude as well as a black pair. In order for the girls to bring you the best possible entertainment, they need new shoes! The ones they are dancing in now are falling apart. Costuming for each girl for each group number usually runs $80-$120 PER GIRL PER NUMBER!!!! So one 4-minute group number with even just 5 girls can cost the girls anywhere from $400-$600, and our opening and closing numbers cost us usually $1200-$1500 out of pocket in costuming alone! YIKES!!! We REALLY need your help in order to keep the troupe in costumes and shoes! Pay varies based on each number, but the most we get per number is $40 for a solo, and anywhere from $10-$25 per group number. So in order for us to recoup the cost of the costuming for a solo usually takes 3-4 times of dancing it just to break even, and group numbers (depending on the amount of girls dancing in it) takes us dancing it 10-15 times to recoup the cost to produce it. The advantages of having 11-15 girls on staff are great: We can put on longer shows with a LOT more variety, and have the capability for big Vegas-style group numbers. But it costs a LOT more money to run a group this size, and we'd hate to ever have to cut back on the amount of performers we hire!!!!
