What we're up to:

We believe diplomacy shouldn’t just be left up to politicians. Artists are cultural and social changemakers and we are passionate about creating more opportunities for artists to bring a broader cultural understanding into their work.

Over 30 artist residency programs that give artists time and space to create work in China, but thousands of creatives don't have a way to connect with these opportunities.

Our solution is China Residencies, a 501(c)3 non-profit and website. Our mission is to:

Why we need your help:

To make our project a reality, we need your donations to:

  • design and develop the website
  • cover the fees from registering as a 501c3 non-profit
(yes, that means your donations are tax deductible in the US!)
  • conduct a research trip to Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Lijiang, Shenzhen and Hong Kong to document and discover some of the best programs
  • film and edit videos and interviews about artist residencies in China

How you can support us:

Please give generously and help us spread the word to artists you think could benefit from the tools we are building! We know money is tight for artists these days, you can also help us out with tweets, shares and introductions! Every little thing helps.

We're offering some great rewards (take a look to your right), including fine art prints from past artists in residence in China:
