Carl, From I.T.

is a film. A short film. Being made by students from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for Film & Television. Specifically by a guy named Jorge Soto. Jorge is a junior at Tisch and is making this for his Intermediate Narrative Workshop, his first short film with more than just a couple of friends as the crew. This is as real as it has been and it's an exciting time for us as we all jump into the production world together. This is a film about jumping into action and putting your life and future in your own hands, but to do that ourselves and make this film a reality we really need your help.

Let's see if we can tell you a little bit about...

The Story

Having peaked socially during his reign as king of the nerds at MIT, Carl is now a lonely middle-aged IT worker whose career potential has since been stifled by his social awkwardness. When the beautiful Maria starts interning at the office, Carl becomes desperate to get her attention, especially when her annoyingly handsome boss becomes a threat. Once again tapping into his long dormant but unique skill set, Carl tries to turn the odds in his favor, but gets in too deep and is forced to re-evaluate his actions and his feelings.

The IT Staff (Key Film Crew):

What We Need

Location

We are trying to rent some office space for our set, but we have a very limited time range to shoot our film so we need full days at the location we find, which can be expensive.

Art

The offices where we are shooting, where our characters are going to live in, are completely bare, and we need to decorate them to establish their place in the world of the film. A lot of the props for Carl we already have, since the director is a geek himself and a lot of our friends are too, so we naturally have a lot of nerdy things. But there's still several objects, decorations, supplies, that would help sell the look of the film.

Transportation

We have several dedicated and talented crew members working on this, all based out of New York (you know that place where people don't own cars?), so we need money to rent a passenger van (wait, you have one!? or similar vehicle that you want to lend to our production!?! THANK YOU!) to get everyone to the set, and then back to where we're sleeping each day.

Lodging

I guess we're $leeping $omewhere...this is a really difficult and costly thing to arrange, and we are always looking for unique ways to house everyone for 2 nights near our set in New Jersey. Do you own a hotel, manor, estate, or empty house with room for 17 people?? My mom's a great cook...seriously.

Food

Feeding 17 people is costly.
Feeding 17 college students is costlier.
Feeding 17 college students who are working 12 hard hours a day making your dreams come true?
Priceless...

...Just kidding it's very very pricey. Help us!

Equipment

Our school gives us most of what we need to make the movie, but there are a couple of things that they don't have that make our movie shooting experience a lot more efficient and give us a better product! Such as monitor, follow focus, shoulder rig for the camera, as well as other little things that can add up!

How to Help Us!

Donating isn't the only way. Though actually it's kinda the best way, so yeah donate! You get some cool perks as you can see!

But if you can't donate for some reason, you can still help us out by spreading the word to your friends, family, and anyone that works in IT or in an office that you think might appreciate it!

Like our Facebook Page and Share our campaign on Facebook or Twitter or across all corners of the internet. Carl and Jorge will be forever grateful!
