Short film “Better the End” centers around two immigrant women who belong to a city-- the fictional city of Pemtaya-- against their will in the sex industry, both now bound to a place they cannot call home. Both women crave meaning and connectedness despite their circumstances, but are fearful of never finding either.
Pemtaya-- the fictional city in which this film takes place, has effectively erased its connection to a continuous history and to nature through endless iterations of planning and building. There is little left of the natural world that once stood beneath it. Yet, spirituality and the natural world interject in the women’s lives throughout the film as they are confronted with transcendence.
Filmmaking is difficult and expensive work. In order to put together the right and best cast and crew we'll need to pay them fairly for their work. We'll also need to pay for the basic production costs that every film incurs: permits, locations, insurance, camera packages, craft services, and so forth.
$4,500 is the lowest possible amount needed to bring “Better the End” to life. Any backing we receive beyond our goal will be used to increase the production value of the film, support post production and apply to festival entry fees.
We plan to be as transparent as possible with our supporters. As we move forward we will update you on where your money is going and the exact costs of the production.
"Better the End cannot" happen without you.
