My name is David DuBos and I'm the Writer/Director of "Bayou Tales". I'm also the Editor and Co-Producer (with Xavier Salinas). I am reaching out to horror film lovers everywhere to assist us in completing our film. It's a dark comedy/horror anthology in the spirit of the old British horror films from the 1970's such as "Vault of Horror", "Tales from the Crypt" and others.
I've been writing movies for nearly 20 years and have sold a few screenplays that were successfully made into movies. But like many writers, I've always wanted to direct my own script and now I've been afforded that opportunity with "Bayou Tales".
When we began "Bayou Tales" a couple of years ago, we decided to raise the money independently. As any filmmaker will tell you, that's the toughest part. To date, we have managed to raise enough money to complete two of the three segments in the film.
The good news is that we attended the American Film Market late last year in Santa Monica, CA, and met with several distributors interested in the film. A couple of them offered to pay for the post-production of the film, which is great news for us.
We are at a critical stage, past the halfway mark but not quite to the finish line.
The money we're asking for is to pay for our two "star" salaries, the two actors who will portray our characters in our "wrap-around" story, or the place where we keep returning to after each story plays out in the film.
As stated previously, we have already received interest from several distributors who want the film but we keep running into the "Who is in it?" question meaning "What stars are in it?". It's no secret films need a couple of names to make the film viable in today's marketplace and while we feel we already have a pretty strong cast, adding two significant names will mean the world to our film. It could mean the difference between the film playing theatrically or playing on VOD. We have scheduled our "name" actors for just 1-2 days of filming so the money we acquire from you is realistic enough to achieve this goal.
We know that horror fans are some of the most loyal fans in the world and we want our campaign to reflect this. We want to give the fans an opportunity to be a part of our film, which is why we are offering some excellent perks to get us there.
So, check out our trailer on our website (bayoutalesfilm.com), and look at the cast members we have already filmed and be sure to spread the word and tell your fellow moviegoing friends about us.
We have spent the money wisely, focusing on getting a top notch Director of Photography, Art Department, and both Makeup and Visual FX. And, we are proud to say the budget does not reflect the quality of the film. We look forward to staying in touch with all of you on the road to the premiere of "Bayou Tales".
