Battle as seen in the South Jersery Times
ROP Entertainment and American Dream Machine proudly present
Everyday is a battle... There are heroes, villains, and those who simply must fight to find a purpose in life. The war has claimed many, but one man refuses to throw in the towel. He will not give up. He will not surrender. BATTLE is the story of this man. It's the story of a father, a fighter, and the champion that lies deep down within all of us.

This is the story of Johnny Lamarks. This man's battle is one of redemption. He is a loving husband and father. Life is good, until tragedy strikes. After losing his young daughter and his own parents in a devastating car crash, he must not only find the will to go on, but also reconcile with the reality of his wife walking out on him when the grief is too much for their relationship to bear. This alters his life forever. In order to escape the pain in wake of the tragic circumstances, he joins the Army. After serving his country valiantly, Johnny returns home, only to find that there is no one there to welcome him back. His family is dead and his friends are MIA. He has nobody. Even worse, he has no home. Without a place to stay, he is forced to live on the streets. His unhealthy situation breeds unhealthy living. He lives off of the food he finds and does nothing but sit around on the streets feeling sorry for himself. Just when defeat seems all but certain for this soldier, who is broken and beaten down, overweight from poor dieting and lifestyle choices, and still horribly depressed, a light shines down from above and hope is restored. Johnny is offered a job. This job is Johnny's second chance. This job is at a gym, and it leads Johnny onto a path of good health, peace, and dignity. In working at the gym, he begins to see how far he has fallen from healthy living. Thus, he opts to use his free time at the gym to train with the boxers. He loses weight and gains hope. He impresses the guys at the gym and eventually shows enough raw talent to really become a boxer. One thing is certain, Johnny Lamarks knows how to fight.

ONE MAN'S BATTLE:
Hi, I'm John Jillard Sr. I’m the writer/director of BATTLE. I wrote the screenplay for BATTLE while I served in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, I felt compelled to tell this story. I had not planned on playing the lead role of Johnny, but given my own struggles with weight and depression following my service to our great nation's military 8 years ago, it was Johnny's life that inspired me to pursue healthier life choices for myself. I had to fight to overcome overwhelming obstacles, just like Johnny. Now, I face a different type of struggle. I must find the funding necessary to tell this story and make the film, BATTLE.
BATTLE is ROP Entertainment's biggest project to date! We are working very hard with Frank Williams (MANCATION/MISS DECEMBER) and American Dream Machine to allocate the budget necessary to produce this film. We believe that this film will show people that if you believe in something, refuse to give up and give it your all, it can be done.
We are in need of your help to fund this film. I guarantee you all that with your financial support, this project will be successfully completed and tell the amazing story of Johnny Lamarks in a way that everyone can appreciate and enjoy.
If we're not able to raise the funds, it will put the project on hold, but just like Johnny Lamarks, I will do everything in my power to make it happen anyway.
We have a great cast and crew as well as some great friends that believe in the film. Up until now, most of the funding has come from our own pockets and some great friends that have donated some funds to provide us with a good start to making BATTLE. However, we need more.
It takes money to make a movie. In order for us to complete the film, we will need a budget of about about $5000. That's where you come in! Help us reach this goal and achieve our budget by donating today!
Production/Film Equipment: We have to pay the people that work on the film! Our cast and crew is worth every penny we are budgeting for their talents and services rendered. Furthermore, we also have to get the right tools for them to do their job. Even though we have a camera, it would be a great benefit to have two cameras on set. We also need a jib, dollie, steadicam, and extra lighting.
Soundtrack/Score: We have a great composer for the soundtrack and score of the film, but of course, we need to pay him...
Post Production: In order for this film to be the best it can be, we need professional video editing, color correction, and sound editing. This guarantees the film will look and sound every bit as amazing as the story that is being told.
Screenings/Marketing: We are planning to send the film to over 50 film festivals around the world. Submitting the film to festivals is not free. This cost also includes movie posters and other promotional items that will help get the word out about our great film.
Any amount of money that you can afford to donate will help us to make this film!
Thank you so much for your support!
