Arts & Crafts: A Web Series - Season One

We got a great response to our pilot episode; let's make season one happen!

What is it?

Last winter, an idea was born.  "Arts & Crafts:  A Web Series" is a comedic series that follows a transfer student as she adjusts to life at an art school.  Filled with a hilarious group of characters, the show encapsulates some of the quirky and crazy things one might find at an art school.

The Pilot episode, "Ice Breaker" which can be found here, was released at the beginning of August.  Since then, the show has received nothing but praise and countless support from our peers and strangers alike.

And now we need your help.  We're back and ready to make season one happen.  Last spring we made the decision to space out our time and release the pilot over the summer to see the response we'd garner.  And now it's time (cue Imagine Dragons song).

Who are we?

We are a group of dedicated artists, passionate about the story we have created here.  The majority of us attend Columbia College Chicago and know first hand what it's like to attend an art school.

And believe us...we know first hand, what it's like to be broke college students.

Why should I give you MY hard earned money?

Well, without it, we honestly will not be able to make this production.  It will be near impossible.

We have roughly 80 pages of material we need to cover in about 18 days.  That's basically shooting a feature film all by ourselves.

And even with $5000, it's going to be an EXTREMELY tight budget.  Your funds aren't going for our enjoyment.  They will be going to the following things:

  • Equipment - we are dedicated in making this a project we are proud of and making it the best quality possible is part of that.  That being said, we need to rent/purchase equipment for camera, sound, lights, and art.
  • Food - a happy crew/cast makes a quality production.  We have roughly 18 days of production allowed for us, most of them calling for long shoot days.  Additionally, by standard, we must feed everyone per set amount of time.
  • Post/Marketing - Thus far we have not put any money into viewership.  And while we haven't done terribly bad in the past few months, we want more people to see this, more people to love it as much as we do.  Along with online advertising on Facebook, YouTube, etc., we also want to submit A&C to festivals and competitions.
  • Other expenses - transportation needs, including gas and truck rental, contingency, possible location fees etc.

Okay, so what can I do?

Donate.

Honestly, just donating a dollar or two would really help us out.  If everyone who liked our Facebook page donated a dollar or two, we'd have nearly $1000.  (But by all means, feel free to donate more if you feel so inclined, just know it's greatly appreciated).

But we get it, not everyone can do that.  So spread the word.  Like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, subscribe to us on YouTube.  Then after you do that, share it with your friends and family.
