The organization was established December 2012. The organization's founders, Dedrick Lee Anthony and Colleen Bialas have been passionate about the performing arts in West Michigan, specifically Muskegon County. As youth they both were highly involved and nurtured in the performing arts community in Muskegon County. Both participated in many outreach programs, theater productions, student showcases and dance companies.
Dedrick moved to New York City to further his aspirations while Colleen moved to California to reach her goals as a performing artist. With overwhelming support from family, friends, mentors and the community, they both have a combined total of 25 years of professional dance experience.
In 2012, Dedrick and Colleen came together and realized the need to enrich the performing arts and arts education within Muskegon County, and set on a mission to uplift and empower the community.
The anthony + bialas danse project's main mission is to cultivate artists from primary school through college to a higher level of dance performance through arts education and training from experienced dance professionals from across the nation. The organization hopes to make greater performing arts opportunities available to youth of Muskegon County, as well as to exhibit the advantages of learning and creating dance.
The organization's objective is to afford youth of all social and economic backgrounds in West Michigan the experience to participate in performing arts opportunities. Participants will benefit from:
- Masterclasses in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and hip hop led by various guest artists from across the nation.
- Workshops/Lectures led by various guest artists, that will train students in many facets of building a dance career.
- Annual performances that will help promote and enrich the fine arts of the community.
