Alice on Mars - The Movie
We all know Alice - one of the most popular female characters in history! Her first adventures were written 150 years ago and nearly every adventure film since then has simply been an adaptation of her adventures in wonderland!
Now it is time for a brand new adventure!
When Alice is abducted by aliens she begins her
biggest and strangest adventure. In a tale told to the boy Robert by his
Granddad’s ventriloquists’ dummy, Alice, together with her loyal and brave
flock of performing kiwi birds, becomes embroiled in a twisted epic saga of
worlds domination, robot wars and thwarted romance.
Alice on Mars will be a visually stunning work of comedy space opera, with great actors, great locations and an epic story encompassing the entire galaxy! If you love Alice in Wonderland, HG Wells, The War of the Worlds, Flash Gordon then this is the Movie for you! How could anyone not be excited when faced with the prospect of:
Destruction on a planetary scale!
The year is 1888 and WORLDS WAR TWO has just begun!
Here is a slightly longer Promo film - to give you a feel of Alice's world...
Help us Make Alice on Mars - the Movie!
Prolific British humorist Robert Rankin and award winning film maker Martin Gooch have joined forces to make the film version of Robert's acclaimed and beautifully illustrated book "Alice on Mars."
Making a movie typically involves several stages: development; pre-production; production and post-production. Each stage requires a budget, and whilst Martin has acquired a wealth of experience in cutting feature film budgets right down to the bare essentials, and a handy knack for making a little money go a long long way, a core budget is needed to get the show on the road, and get Alice to Mars, so she can start her wonderful and magical adventures on Mars!
We've done most of the development work: Martin has written the script from Robert's book, actors and crew have been lined up, as well as an initial trailer being made, which hopefully you've already enjoyed by the time you're reading this! If not, check out the trailer in the update section of this Indiegogo campaign! Amazing, wasn't it?!
Help promote Alice on Mars by sharing the Indiegogo link at the top of this page
We need your help with the pre-producton - getting everything and everyone lined up to start filming - as well as the production of the film - shooting the script frame by frame, scene by scene, bringing everything to life, and expanding on the magnificent taster you saw in the trailer. This Indiegogo campaign should give us a core budget to put in place firm foundations for the film, and will enable us to approach other sources of finance to ensure completion of Alice on Mars. We're planning to complete most of the work during 2015, and aiming to have the final movie ready in 2016. The more we raise from this Indiegogo campaign the quicker we will be able to complete the film, and also potentially film additional scenes with additional actors.
Martin's two previous films were both completed and made it to film festivals, and we are very confident that Alice on Mars will follow that glorious path too, kicking up clouds of red dust from her steam punk heels!
In addition, as this will be a quintessentially British film, once it is completed we will be eligible for BFI British Cultural status, which entitles us to 25% of our spent budget back - which means that more money can go towards giving the Movie a final polish and helping it on its way around a series of festivals in 2015/2016. Martin's last film scored 100% on the BFI British Cultural status and we'd be looking to match that success with Alice on Mars.
Alice on Mars is a wonderful & magical story that will appeal to people of all ages with its strong female lead character!
See our perks for all the wonderful rewards you can get from pledging to support this Indiegogo campaign for Alice on Mars, ranging from helping to add a few dilithium crystals to our rocket engines, right up to becoming a Martian Ambassador.
Please help us on our journey by pledging your support, telling everyone you know about this wonderful project, and use the Indiegogo share tools to help spread the word about how you helped Alice save the Earth!
About the Film Makers
Alice on Mars - the Movie - is based on Alice on Mars - the Book - by British cult author Robert Fleming Rankin, a prolific British humorous novelist. Born in Parsons Green, London (he attended Ealing School of Art in the company of such luminaries as Freddie Mercury whose white satin trousers Robert ruined with a cup of coffee). He started writing in the late 1970s, and first entered the bestsellers lists with Snuff Fiction in 1999, by which time his previous eighteen books had sold around one million copies. His books are a mix of science fiction, fantasy, the occult, urban legends, running gags, metafiction, steampunk and outrageous characters. Robert refers to his style as 'Far Fetched Fiction' in the hope that bookshops will let him have a section to himself. Many of his books are set in Brentford, a suburb of London where Robert grew up, and which, in his novels, is usually infested with alien conspiracies and/or ancient evil. Much like the real Brentford.
