The more money we raise, the more charities that we will do during our journey! Let's all together make the change we have been always dreaming about and make more children in Africa smile!

The AfriQuest project was born from our desire to explore Africa.

Since, we were already in Cape Town, we decided not to take the plane to get back home, but to venture a challenging journey across Africa.

Our goal is to film a documentary showing our experiences from the Cape to Cairo venture, as well as the Greeks that live there.  Last but not least, we want do as much charity work as possible on our way! So, we are going...

From Cape Town to Cairo

11 countries

6 months

15,000 km

just with our tent and our backpacks!

The route that we are going to take is:

Starting from the Rainbow Nation of South Africa, we are going to experience Swaziland's Kingdom and Mozambique's unexplored treasures, then we are heading to Malawi's lake of thousand stars and Tanzania, the land of safaris.

In Tanzania, we are having a break to volunteer at the NGO called SANA, run by a Greek born in Burundi, Costa Coucoulis.

Having our batteries charged, we will continue our journey to the country of thousand hills, Rwanda, and the diamond of Africa, Uganda!

Getting excited about the African cultures and hopefully not tired from the journey, we will then head to Kenya, the land of Masai people, as well as the country of children, Ethiopia!

Getting closer to our final destination, we will experience the great hospitality of the people of Sudan until we reach the bustling capital of Egypt, Cairo, where our journey will reach its end!

A Few things about us

We are Elpis and Dora, a young passionate crazy couple from Greece that want to inspire our life with new things we see, live and experience in this wonderful planet!

We love traveling and exploring new cultures, traditions, getting to know new people and trying to have as many new experiences as possible!

After a few backpacking trips in Europe and Asia, the time has come to explore the most interesting continent of the planet, Africa. Stunning landscapes, different cultures, amazing people is some of the things that we will come across in these 15,000 km.

Hellenism in Africa will be a significant part of our AfriQuest as well. It is incredible how many Greeks have migrated to Africa and keep the Greek culture alive till today. We have already received invitations from Greek Communities in South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, etc, which is quite impressive!

It is our passion to capture our traveling experiences in photos and short videos. Hence, this African venture will give gives us another opportunity to create something really unique!

If you believe in Karma or if you just feel excited about the whole idea and you would like to support us in our venture, you are in the right place!

What We Need & What You Get

We are not asking for money to cover our personal expenses. We have made a plan about that by saving the last two years while working in Cape Town. Of course we always try to travel the cheapest possible way, sleeping in our tent or using couchsurfing, cooking our food, using local transport, etc..

However, the reason we have started this campaign, is first to cover the costs of the editing of the documentary (as it needs to be done by a professional film editor), and second to donate a significant part of the funds that will be raised, to the three charity organizations in which we will volunteer during our trip:

1) Qaqambani Safety Home in Khayelitsha Township, South Africa

2) Orphanage in Ethiopia

3) SANA, the non-profit organization previously mentioned, registered in Tanzania, established to consolidate efforts for those who share similar values of Love and Respect for Mother Nature.

As we are not really fans of donations, you can contribute any amount that you want, and apart from your name on the credits of the documentary, we will reward you with  unique gifts that we offer!

You are also more than welcome to innovate, and propose us a gift that you would like to receive for a fair amount of money from our trip!

Other Ways You Can Help

Money is not everything in life, we kindly ask also for:

  • Accomodation - maybe you know someone that could host us.
  • Tips - any relevant information is always useful.
  • Company - you are more than welcome to join us for a part of the trip!
  • Spread the campaign - pick up your phone and call now your grandparents, they always have some money aside :P
Please use the Indiegogo share tools as well to help the AfriQuest project become true!

And that’s all there is to it!

Thank you sooooo much beautiful people and don't forget,
