Tarrka Studios' 1st animated series. Funding to assist with all studio productions.
“Ava” is a result of my pediatric home care nursing days. While caring for my chronically ill children, it occurred to me the lack of characters, live action or animation, where they could say, “Look, there’s someone just like me”. Because of this realization, it has become my mission to help foster a sense of inclusion for these children throughout the world, while at the same time showing that their illness or disability is only a part of who they are. It should not define them. As every chronically ill child will tell you, they are a kid first.
“Ava” is not only based on one of my former patients, her mannerisms and 'voice' are provided by the real-life child. She is a living testament to a child’s ability to not only endure and triumph over illness and impairments, but also have the abiilty to still maintain a wonder and imagination while playing and interacting within her world and with others.
With this focus, our weekly-animated series will take the viewer on Ava's and her friends’ adventures as they find fun and “misfits” needing the assistance that only she can provide.
And as Ava’s weekly episodes show the world that children just like her are more than their illness, Tarrka Studios’ goal is to share this message with all children, parents, and friends across the globe.
What We Need
* 5 Cintiqs (specialized systems to create animation) = $10,000
Animation Software (Toon Boom Harmony)
* Toon Boom pipeline = $30,000 (approximate)
* 4 skilled animators = $1,100/mo x 3 mo = $13,200
(my four graduating seniors who were interns this semester)
Office Equipment - you know, the basics = $2,000
* 5 desk/chair set ups
* 1 printer/copier
* Office supplies
If we don't reach the entire goal, we will at least purchase 1-2 systems and software licenses so we can have the stations set up, functional and animators to continue work on "Ava".
