The GoodLook Group seeks to connect the community to Christ through music, movies, and more. We started out using Eshon Burgundy's own music to create the companies first strain of music videos under the name "GoodLook Multimedia." Not too long after, other artists started to notice and inquire about booking services. In just months, video inquiries grew beyond expectation and we decided to add a department dedicated exclusively to video services, hence the name GDLK Films.
Today, the subsidiaries GoodLook Multimedia (graphic/photography design) and GDLK Films (cinematic art) have evolved under the umbrella of the GoodLook Group brand.
The original plan was to start out making a film when we met nearly 11 years ago, in Philadelphia. I, Tandeace, was studying journalism at Temple University and had already produced a few short cinematic pieces and mini-documentaries before Anton (Eshon's legal name) and I knew each other. Just months into our budding relationship, I recruited Anton to help me complete one of my video projects. While working together for the first time, we recognized our duo effort consisted of something even more special than any creative effort we'd aimed for on our own.
As our relationship grew, we came to know deeply intimate episodes of each others life and knew we had to make a movie about our individual stories, as well as the irony in our own love story. So, we went to the drawing board to develop the idea about a year into the relationship, but life and a breakup got in the way. When we finally got back together and got married, talks of the film ideas surfaced again, but babies and bills caused us to stick with our main source of income—music videos.
Now, after more than sixty music videos and commercials, nearly seven years of marriage, and three children, we realize it's now or never and have decided to take calculated action steps towards producing, writing, shooting, and directing films.
We plan to start with the debut of our short film idea entitled "A Sky Above the Blaze."
Ever been in a situation that appeared hopeless? You pray God turns it around, and He does, but no one sees the transition from grit to gold? That is what "A Sky Above the Blaze" is about. Based on actual events that we have experienced personally, we intend to show what that transformation looks like.
We'll bring you more information about the movie concept, including behind-the-scenes clips and story development, in update videos to come.
Making a short film is certainly a new arena for us and we want the best possible quality elements in regards to planning, set, and post production. Unfortunately, all this is extremely expensive—and it's why we need your help to make it a reality.
Our goal is $18,000, which sounds like a lot, but when you consider all the costs involved it becomes a rather small amount. For example, we'll have to purchase a portion of the equipment we do not already possess, we'll need to pay for actors and actresses, sound, lighting, score music, food, transportation, DVD replication, wardrobe, makeup, props, service fees, and the list goes on. It's truly an independent film, that requires much sacrifice even after reaching the proposed goal.
We broke the budget down by department below. We believe it will be workable to produce this film with $18,000.00. However, we hope to reach beyond the goal.
If we exceed our goal, we plan to donate ten percent of the surplus to the 3Sixty House, a Christian recovery home for those struggling with drug abuse. Take a look at the video below for more information about their ministry.
The remaining portion of any surplus will be start-up for the feature film we plan to produce next. If we do not reach our goal, we still plan to make this short film, it will just take a little longer.
As a contributor, your support will:
- Help make the movie and pay the cast/crew
- Show how the power of the Gospel can change the hearts of people
- Give talented believers a chance to break into their career on and off camera
If you want to support this short film, make a donation today! Some pretty awesome perks are listed to the right for those that plan to donate.
