Every since we released our first EP A Sweet and Bitter Providence, we have been eager to write, record, and share more music. Yes, we know, It's been a while. Life has been happening at full speed over the last 2 and a half years! We've had 4 children since the last EP release and we've moved all over the country! In the midst of all that living, we've finally come to the point where we have written a group of songs that we are VERY excited to record and share. This EP will focus on Hope and the effect hope has on our lives. We've decided to call it Shadows of Our Future Selves. This title may be recognizable to those of you who have read Tom Wright's book Surprised By Hope (an excellent book!) The biblical themes of recreation and resurrection should embolden us to give our lives away in anticipation of Heaven and Earth finally and fully joining together in a lasting embrace at the return of the King.
The not-so-secret secret behind music projects is that they cost money to make. We think we have a group of songs that will bless people, strengthen their hope, and give them vision and courage as they venture into the future. We are asking you to please consider coming along side and helping propel this new EP into existence. We have set a goal of 11,000 dollars for this project. We have done a lot of work already, which has allowed us to cut costs significantly.
PERKS: Ok, i'm just going to go ahead and say it...perks are weird to me. I feel like they assume too much. We are not rich and famous...if we were we wouldn't be asking you to help us raise money for our project. We also don't have things to give away! We could promise t-shirts, stickers, posters, and all that jazz, but we'd have to spend money to do that...we don't think that's the best way to use money. We've decided to keep the perks simple. We are trying to make an album that will hopefully dig deep into your bones and infect your bloodstream with hope and beauty. That's what you're getting by helping us. We hope that your belief in our project will be enough to compel you to help!
Even if you can't give, you can still help by sharing this with people that may be in a better place to help us reach our goal.
We love you and hope to be sharing our new music with you soon!
We have just booked studio time at St. Ida's studio in Denver!!! Our good friends Dave Wilton (A Boy and His Kite, Loud Harp) and Tifah Phillips (Page CXVI, SOLA-MI, & The Autumn Film) will be recording and producing this EP with us in January!!! If you know anything about St. Ida's and these folks, then you'll know that this is a BIG deal! Also, this will allow us to release the EP much sooner than expected! We're so excited, and we hope you are too!
If we exceed our goal we will us that money to record more songs and/or put together a video that will accompany the EP!
