A Dual Path calls us to Awaken the Spirit, to experience life as both meaningful and sacred.
I've been writing my book for 3 years and I'm currently working on integrating a sense of the sacred into the design of the book. This challenge mirrors the challenge we are all faced with: the integration of the sacred into our life.
In both cases, it can be done:
What shapes us? What is it that creates our patterns of physical holding, and patterns of behavior, thought and emotion? We are shaped by our life experiences, our memories and our daily responsibilities. These give shape to, and create disturbances in, our energetic matrix, and those of us who move forward into life with disruptions in our energetic matrix often feel lost and as if our life lacks meaning.
This book is groundbreaking because it offers a means to clear our energetic matrix and in so doing, experience ourselves and our daily life as sacred.
My name is Monique Illona and I'm the developer of Sacred Bodywork™ and author of A Dual Path: Sacred Practices and Bodywork. I'm an award winning and Nationally Certified massage & bodywork professionals. Along with my husband, Blane, I have owned my business, Hand in Hand Massage, since 1991.
The book is almost 200 pages. I'm working with my designer, Nancy Wolinski, on the interior design so that every aspect of this project is beautiful, meaningful and sacred.
The book is the training manual for Sacred Bodywork™.
It is also a book for any one who has ever asked...
Is this it, or is there more to life?
and for any one who has ever felt...
Tired of old habits and patterns you can neither shake nor break.
A Dual Path is intended for anyone ready for transformation, including bodywork professionals who want to elevate their profession to a true art and their clients who want to experience massage as a feast for the soul.

It is known that massage and bodywork is good for the body, that it can alleviate physical stress and tension, decrease physical discomforts, aches and pains. Many massage professionals use it to enhance athletic performance, to facilitate healing after a surgery or illness and towards a multitude of other goals.
However, it is also a powerful force of healing for the other aspects that make up the totality of the complicated and multi-dimensional beings we are: the energetic matrix.
The energetic matrix is made up of not only our physical body, but our emotional, spiritual, dream and energetic bodies. It is within this matrix that we hold our thoughts, memories, emotional and behavioral patterns, as well as the holding patterns in our physical body.
The more subtle levels of the energetic matrix encompass specific flows and patterns of energy such as chakras, meridians, etc. which will also manifest blockages, distortions or disruptions found in our energetic matrix.
A Dual Path is one that explores how distortions and blockages in our matrix have effected us. It then clears and shifts our energetic matrix so we can move forward into an awakened sense of ourselves. It encompasses two approaches: Sacred Practices and Bodywork.
While A Dual Path is geared towards bodywork professionals and their clients, it may be used by anyone who wishes to embark on a path of transformation and an awakened spirit.
One path, the Sacred Practices, explores who we are at this moment in time, what we hold in our energetic matrix and facilitates their release to clear unhealthy emotional, behavioral and thought patterns and form a transformed and transcendent version of ourselves.
In the context of Massage & Bodywork, this clearing develops the professionals ability to hone in on their clients state of mind and body. It also allows the professional to be fully present and develop vital listening skills.
The other path, Sacred Bodywork™ allows us to experience ourselves without these patterns. Sacred Bodywork shifts "tectonic plates" both physical and energetic, allowing us to diffuse and shift our energetic matrix as we journey outside our patterns limitations.
My journey has been one of rich and diverse life experiences. For example, I graduated from art school, trained as an Expressive Arts Therapist, was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame, spent a summer working in a fish factor in Alaska, was in the Israeli Defense Forces, have travelled to 24 countries including Mongolia, I was married in Israel and divorced in America, but was born in England to parents who are Holocaust survivors, my mother French, my father Czechoslovakian while my two brothers were born in Australia. I currently live in Marblehead, MA where my husband, Blane and I own Hand in Hand Massage.
The legacy I was born into disrupted my energetic matrix in utero and created serious challenges, including unhealthy emotional and behavioral patters In my early teens, I was called to leave home and go on an odyssey to find my spirit, a spirit that I was completely unfamiliar with. Through this internal odyssey, I not only transformed my behavior, personal ethics, habits, thought and emotional patterns but I created a meaningful and sacred internal life.
I know from direct personal experience that change and deep transformation are possible, and in this book, I've laid out the steps for you to follow.
A Dual Path is a serious and challenging journey for those committed to self-transformation and an Awakened Spirit. It is also a practical textbook for those Massage Professionals who want to learn Sacred Bodywork™, and incorporate the sacred into their own sessions and into their clients experiences.
