VetsinTech supports our current and returning veterans with re-integration services, and by connecting them to the national technology ecosystem. ViT is committed to bringing together a tech-specific network, resources, and programs for our veterans interested in Education, Entrepreneurship, and Employment—the three E’s!
VetsinTech is hosting the 1st EVER all Women VetsinTech Hackathon @FB!! In this full-day event, the VetsinTech and Facebook community will come together to support female veterans as they transition to the civilian workforce to become entrepreneurs!! Like their male counterparts, women veterans bring an incredible wealth of leadership, technology skills and experience to the civilian workforce. This hackathon is geared to provide exclusive support to female veterans in their quest to start a business in the technology sector.
With nearly 1.6 million female veterans in today’s workforce, their numbers are expected to double within the next two decades, according to U.S. Census data. This is an untapped talent pool from which employers can and should benefit.
A sobering report from Pitchbook, however, finds that only 13 percent of venture-backed deals have at least one female cofounder. In the software sector, the percentage drops to 10 percent. Women as a whole currently make up less than a quarter of technology jobs.
