The Heart of the Matter

Before I even start talking about my campaign, what it's about, and how it works, I want to say this: I love writing children's books! Creating stories that encourage kids to believe in themselves, solve problems, and work as a team while still being enjoyable to read is amazing. Even as a writer I don't have the words to describe how it makes me feel when a child comes up to me and tells me they have read my books, and then proceeds to tell me their favorite part. The best I can say is that it warms my heart and leaves me a little breathless. Writing for kids isn't just my career, it's my passion. That is why it means so much to me to get my books out to children, and into libraries around the country. I want to thank everyone who has helped me in my 100 Libraries campaign so far, and ask that those of you who haven't contributed yet consider being apart of making someone's dreams come true. Because it truly would be my dream come true. Thank you Everyone!

The Campaign

Hi, my name is Amanda Litz. I am a children’s book author and owner of Traveler’s Trunk Publishing in Cedar Springs, MI. I am a huge supporter of libraries (my local library in particular) where I volunteer at events, do reading and writing programs, and whenever I publish a new book I donate a copy to the Cedar Springs Public Library and my kid's school library. I wish that I could donate my books to every library. It is my goal, my dream really, to get my books out to as many kids as possible so that they can all enjoy the stories, but unfortunately I can’t afford to give them all away. I need to sell books in order to make more books. That’s why I need your help. With your help we can donate many books from the Traveler’s Trunk collection to libraries across the country, giving hundreds or even thousands of kids the chance to experience and cherish these stories as the kids of Cedar Springs have.

Reading The Great Gumshoe

I think Albert Einstein said it best when he said, “It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.” That is what I’m trying to do here. Now I’m sure all of you have done your share of giving as well, but here's another small opportunity to put something back into the world by donating books to libraries across the country to enrich the lives of our future generations. Our goal is to donate books (one or multiples) to 100 libraries in 100 days, with your help I think we can do it.

What Goes Around, Comes Around

If you figure donations at the smallest contribution level ($10), then we need to raise $1000 in order to send one book to one hundred libraries to make this a successful campaign. Your contribution covers the cost of the book, shipping materials, and postage. The $10 breaks down like this:

Cost of book = $3.99-$6.99
Shipping materials = $0.50
Postage = $2.50

For the larger contributions, any extra money we raise beyond the above mentioned items will go toward the printing of our next book, The Traveler's Trunk: A Medieval Quest, which our first copy will be donated to the Cedar Springs Public Library.

I certainly don’t expect you to do something for nothing. We have many humble perks to offer for your contribution to the 100 libraries in 100 days campaign. For starters, all contributors get their name on our 100 Libraries in 100 Days Thank You Page at the Traveler's Trunk Publishing website. And depending on the perk level you select, we also have personalized bookmarks thanking you for your contribution, a selection of watercolor prints from the Sam and Pam Can and You Can Too series (signed by the illustrator, Cynthia Garcia), PDF versions of all of the books in the Traveler’s Trunk collection, autographed paperback editions of all of the books in the Traveler’s Trunk collection, and original artwork signed by illustrator Christy Beckwith. A few generous contributors will also have the opportunity to throw a children's party with Amanda Litz and Christy Beckwith.

Even if we don't reach our entire goal, all the money donated will still be used to send as many books to as many libraries as we can. I believe donating any number of books to libraries is a good thing, and we appreciate all of your support!

Keeping up Tradition

The donation of books has been the building blocks of U.S. libraries since their inception. Both Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson donated 1000's of books to libraries of their choice. Today, most libraries seek donations from both businesses and individuals. Please help us keep this tradition alive by donating one or all of the books from the Traveler's Trunk collection to your favorite library.

Joining the Cause in One Form or Another

Not everyone can contribute monitarily, but that doesn't mean you can't help if you want to. There are several things you can do if you want to support this campaign:

- You can contact family, friends, and associates to tell them about the 100 Libraries in 100 Days campaign.

-email, Facebook, Google+, twitter, phone calls, etc. are all great ways to do this.

- You can use the Indiegogo share tools to spread the word.

- You can also blog about this campaign, if you have a blog it would be relevant to.

We appreciate any effort you make to support this campaign.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!
