<p>Hello everyone,</p> <p>Thanks for checking out my grassroots classical music project, the Memphis Festival Singers. I started this group with great support from my friends, colleagues, and mentors in Memphis and am excited to see this group grow into a sustainable not-for-profit arts organization.</p> <p>I am passionate about choral music and believe that our communities need more opportunities for passionate music makers to collaborate in the production of excellent musical products.</p> <p>I chose the structure of this group as a festival-like experience because it gives many musicians a new chance to engage with choral music. This ensemble is designed for those who may want or need a step away from traditional weekly-rehearsed choral ensembles:</p> <p>-For the budding vocal soloist who cannot commit to a year-long ensemble because of their academic or professional schedule, a week-long experience is enough to challenge, build a r&eacute;sum&eacute;, and network with other vocal artists.</p> <p>-This ensemble gives the working professional (who does not have time to commit to the traditional choral ensemble) a chance to sing with a high caliber group in a concentrated time period.</p> <p>-The hobbyist chorister can find new challenge in this week of intensive music making and will be given the opportunity to perform large standards of the choral repertory...an opportunity they may not receive in their church or community choir.</p> <p>I also started this ensemble because I love Memphis. I want to see the arts community thrive in our wonderful city, and I am eager to work with my friends and colleagues to make this group a sustainable piece of the Memphis artistic landscape. More opportunity to sing and perform means more exposure and support for the arts. I am convinced that the arts have the power to weave threads of hope and vibrancy through cities and their cultures. It is my dream to be a part of something that contributes to this city which has given so much to me already. I believe working with and helping to grow the Memphis Festival Singers is a passionate way to give back to my city and infuse the hope and vibrancy I believe is necessary for our great city to find new success.</p> <p>I hope you share my vision for the arts, our city of Memphis, and the Memphis Festival Singers.</p> <p>Thanks for your support,</p> <p>Tyler Turner</p>
